Chapter 17: Face Off

*Yumi's PoV*

Where am I...? I got up from where I was laying down and looked down at what I was wearing. I was wearing a long, white strapless dress barefoot. I got up from where I was lying down and looked around. It was a very foggy evening, and the moon was hiding behind the clouds that scattered in the dark sky. It's so peaceful here...

"Yumi... I finally get to see you face to face, my sweet daughter.." No way... She couldn't be... I looked back and I couldn't believe my eyes. It was my mother, looking at me with warm eyes.

"Mother..I-is that you? Is that really you?" I said.

"Yes, Yumi! It's me!" She said happily with open arms. Tears ran down from my eyes and I ran over to her and hugged her tightly, crying.

"Finally...finally! I get to meet you, Mother! I'm so happy!" I said.

"I'm happy too, Yumi!" She said. We broke from our embrace.

"Yumi, there is someone I want you to meet." The man stepped forward. He looks a lot like Kaname! Is he Kaname's father, Haruka?

"Yumi. This is Haruka Kuran, your stepfather." He wasn't glaring at me, in fact he was smiling at me. He then embraced me.

"I'm so sorry. Truly and deeply sorry. I thought since you were the daughter of Karlheinz, a man who's done so many terrible things, you would grow up to be like him, but after what I witnessed your life along with your mother, how you grew up, found love. It's incredible. You've grown to be a kind, gentle, and smart lady, Yumi." He said. We broke from the embrace and sat down on a fountain.

"What you did for your lover was courageous, Yumi. It shows how much love and affection you have for him. You changed him. He was once a sadistic and cruel person, but meeting you, you changed his heart. Your love and affection for him reached his soul, and he became a different person." Mother said.

"However, no matter how hard it may seem now, you must do everything in your power to go back and be with him. You made him a promise, right? To be with him, and find happiness. However, in your case, it's going to be an obstacle. You have to fight, Yumi. Don't let this kill you. You're a strong woman, and we both believe fiercely that the both of you will be able to overcome this obstacle." Haruka said.

"I know. And I won't! Because I want to live my life with Ruki!" I said confidently.

We then caught up with some things.

"We couldn't stop laughing at Kaname's efforts to win your heart. Arranged marriage? Please. An arranged marriage can't stop a maiden in love." Mother said.

I giggled. "Totally agree."

"Karlheinz is out of his mind, forcing you to get engaged to someone you don't have feelings for." Haruka said.

"Right? Sooo true." I replied.

"Why don't we take a look to see how Ruki is doing?" Mother said.

"Sure!" I said.

The fog surrounding us then turning into a projection and I saw... Father and Ruki fighting?!

The three of us continued watching the confrontation.

*Ruki's PoV*
Karlheinz and I continued fighting. This man isn't even using his true potential, because he knows that if he uses his powers he will kill me in an instant.

"This is getting boring. I can just use my powers right now and kill you." Karlheinz said.

The both of us stopped fighting and just stood there.
