Chapter 1: How It All Began

~Juri Kuran~

     It was a beautiful, snowy night... The moon was shining brightly in the sky and the temperature was breezy and cool. However, that was how I liked it. I was preparing for the vampire ball that the Sakamaki family was hosting, and as I was done, I see that Haruka has not come home yet. Ugh. What is taking him so long? I waited... and waited... but no matter how long I've waited, I didn't hear the door open.

I tried to use my powers to see if I can sense him near, but nothing. Kaname, who had just turned one year old not too long ago is sleeping peacefully. He looks like Haruka. I called for a babysitter, so that she can watch Kaname while we go to the ball. A knock was heard on the door and I ran to open it it see if it was Haruka.

"Hello, Juri-sama." She bowed.

"Ah, you've arrived. Please come in. Kaname is over there, sleeping. He's a very good boy, so I doubt he will be trouble."

"All right, I will take good care of him." She went to where Kaname was, and just sat down and began reading a book. Then before I knew it the door opened once again. It was Haruka, who looked drunk.

"Haruka, where were you?! I've been waiting for you for over two hours!" He looked angrily at me.

"Is it really your business what I do outside of this house?"

"Yes, it is! I'm your wife!" I fought back. He then laughed.

"Ha! And you think because of that you have authority over me? Please, Juri. Just back off. I'm going to bed." He's not going to the ball with me?

"But what about.."

"Go on without me, you'll be fine, right?" I began to get angry.

"Fine! Then I will! It will get my mind out of YOU!" I stormed out of the Kuran mansion and left to go to the ball. I walked through the snowy weather, and made my way to the car that awaited me. I got in and slammed the door.

"Juri-sama.. Is Haruka-sama..."

"Just go. He isn't coming." The driver began to drive, and I just looked out the window.

I hate you, Haruka. God knows what you were doing outside the house. Probably drinking with a bunch of women... Yeah, that's right.. That's what you were probably doing.

*20 minutes later*

I arrived to the Sakamaki household, and I saw that many people with their partners were entering. Looks like I'm the only one that's attending alone. But oh well. I then got off of the car and began making my way to the Sakamaki household. As I entered, the house was beautiful, and lights shined everywhere. A couple then walked up to me.

"Good evening, Juri-sama. You are looking beautiful tonight." The woman said with a kind smile.

 I smiled as well.

"Thank you."

"By the way, Juri-sama, where is Haruka-sama? He did not accompany you?" The man asked.

Just thinking of Haruka right now just angers me, but I kept my composure.

"Haruka had a few things to work on back at the mansion, so I came on my own."

"Oh that's too bad. Well then, it was nice to see you, Juri-sama!" The couple then left. I then went to the table and got a glass of wine.

"Even though I'm a Pureblood, and I'm supposed to be calm and composed, tonight I'm going to let go. I don't care." I drank a glass of wine in one gulp.
