warning: blood, stabbing, strangulation, sorry about that, this is kind of a very violent chapter but a very important one. *hint* *hint* I've done something very bad my apologizes to everyone just please don't hate me! it was really hard for me to write a certain part of this story and not because I didn't have any ideas...

Snotlout's P.O.V

I spun the knife in my hand and slowly stabbed the soil in front of me, roughly cutting out patches of dirt and grass. The darkness wrapped around me, shielding me from sight. The commotion coming from the village was faint as the noise traveled through the air. The cove was eerily silent tonight but I knew I was safe. I looked over to a large black lump laying on the ground a few meters away, it was covered from top to bottom in ropes and chains. All I had to do know was sit and wait for the right moment to attack once it came.

I smirked and stood up. I moved over to a large bolder that would shield me while giving me a perfect view without be discovered. I sat behind pressing the tip of the knife against the rough surface and began to carve rigid lines in the cold stone.

"No we wait."

Hiccup's P.O.V

I'd never felt such relief as the tangled woods wrapped protectively around me. Now under the covers of the towering branches of the trees I began to run. I swiftly avoided fall branches, sticks and leaves and moved gracefully along the night like a haunting shadow. I needed to get to Toothless and together we can stop this madness. We need to find what is controlling these dragons and put an end to it before any more can be harmed. We can't let this happen again. We can't lose anymore dragons then we already have.

I ignored the sharp pain in my side and went fast as I saw the rocks of the cove in eyesight. I nearly jumped with joy and slid down the entrance. Once I was safety on the ground I noticed the eerie silence that hung in the air like a cloak. I looked around within the darkness but there was nothing to be seen apart from the lake, bushes, rocks and trees. And that is what made me panic a bit. There was nothing alive moving. So where was Toothless? I placed my heavy bag down to lean on the surface of a large boulder.

"Toothless!" I yelled cupping my hands around my mouth to increase the volume of my voice.

It was very faint but I could hear a soft purr coming from somewhere in the cove. I looked in all directions but the cove was such an open area I should have seen him by now. I began to walk around the limited space but there was nothing but emptiness around. Where could he be? I couldn't imagine him going somewhere else at a time like this. I had no clue where Toothless had gone but if I wasn't to find him soon then my plan of stopping whatever is controlling the dragons will fail and I'm not going to let that happen. Not if Astrid remains in danger of the evil.

I ran a hand through my hair and stood just on the edge of the lake. Even from here I could still hear those horrid sounds of the battle coming from the village. And just like that, with a booming crack of thunder droplets of water poured from within the clouds. They were ice cold to the touch and within a few seconds they pounded the Earth that lay bellow them. I looked up to the heavens and had never seen the sky so dark before.

"Toothless!" I called once again but it was in vain. Any noise made now would be carried off before vanishing in the clouds. And that's why I didn't hear him coming.

Something solid, bone cold and smooth hovered above my throat but I could sense the hand wielding the knife shaking as it held back from sinking the blade into my flesh. Despite the fact that he was shorter then I was, Snotlout had positioned himself behind me do if I made any move the knife would cut the air straight out from my throat.
