Hiccup's P.O.V

We had managed to get back to the boats undetected and safe. I was sat down leaning on the wall of the boat as everyone got ready to leave. Astrid had refused many times to leave my side when one of the sailors asked her to help them, I couldn't even manage to convince her.

"I'm not leaving you again, it's my job to protect you while you recover," is what she said.

I didn't tell her but I was secretly glad to have her sit next to me. It reminded me that this all wasn't a dream and that I wasn't in that horrid cell anymore waiting for Alvin or a guard to come fetch me and torcher me. I can finally let my guard down a little and relax...well as much as I could in my condition. Astrid sat next to me braiding two little part of my hair as I had my eyes closed listening to the sound of the waves hitting the wood of the boat. I opened my eyes and turned to her. She looked back at me smiling.

"Toothless has been missing you for a while," she said.

"Is he ok?" I asked concerned.

Astrid chuckled, "He's perfectly fine just a little down in the dumps."

I sighed with relief and smiled as it finally hit me. "I can't wait to get back and see him, I've been so worried," I replied.

"I have a feeling you're wanting to ask for something else," Astrid lifted an eyebrow.

"When we get back to Berk...I want to go see Toothless first, so he knows I'm ok, s-so he doesn't have to worry anymore," I explained.

Astrid stared at me for the longest moment then she took a deep breath and leaned close so her lips were close to my ear. "Only if you promise to be good," she whispered with a little smirk.

I smiled back at her then lifted my hand and cupped her cheek in my palm. I leaned forward and gently pressed my lips against hers and for that moment I forgot about the pain, I forgot about my busy thoughts, I forgot about everyone here because in this moment it's all about her and me. Astrid lips were softer then I expected and she didn't pull away but she tangled one of her hands in my messy hair and pulled me closer. Astrid liked to look strong and tough so that no one would underestimate her, so that she would come out on top. At least that's what I had discovered but as much as she is strong there's another side of her I've only seen when we're alone. Where she is gentle and caring. I couldn't have asked for a better girl to meet and fall in love with.

The crew around us stopped what they were doing and just watched us. A worrier and a dragon boy, nearly two complete opposites that had somehow fallen in love.

We pulled way to catch our breaths but we didn't kiss again. Just seeing that look in her eyes was enough for me and it seemed it was enough for her too. We sat there for a while just staring in each other's eyes.

"I-I was unsure at the start, if I should have trusted you before but no matter how hard I tried to forget you, you always seemed to be in my mind and I couldn't focus on anything if you weren't there with me. I didn't understand what was happening at least not completely but now...now I do and I'm happy I met you in the woods Astrid, even though our first meeting wasn't the best," I explained.

Everyone around us awed but I blocked them all out. Astrid didn't say anything but once again her reply was in her eyes and that's all I had needed to see. To prove that she does love me too.

Stoick came up and put a hand on a shoulder which made me wince.

"It's good to see you again son," he stated happily.

"Yeah," was all I said. I wasn't still angry but I didn't know what to say.

"What's up Stoick?" Astrid asked.
