Hiccup's P.O.V

After the terrible terry left I was all alone in my cold, rough, painful cell where the only sound I could hear was my ragged breathing as everything hurt. It was like I was the only one here, all the other prisoners I had seen when walking here didn't make a single sound, they just sat there and you can see in their eyes that all hope they once had Alvin had taken from them. It was scary to think that someone can actually steal your hope...the last thing everyone has to hold onto. But I wasn't going to give up my hope, I still have things to live for. A-and Toothless needs me, I can't just give up because if I do then I take away Toothless' flight and that's something I can never do it's not right.

I wrapped my arms around my ribs and groaned. There was no doubt that more than one rib was broken. The pain was so bad that during the day I floated in and out of consciousness. It was wonderful while it lasted but then the guard came back from their break looking particularly happy with something that Alvin had told them but I soon found out. Every time a different guard came in and had his fun beating me until I fell unconscious then he left and when I woke back up I felt absolutely horrible and then another guard would soon come.

After a few horrible hours no more guards came and I was left in the cell the pain so bad I began to feel numb. Alvin walked up and leaned on one of the metal poles looking smugly at me.

"How's it going?" he asked doing what I would do.

"It's going great...what are you here for? miss me?" I asked. (a/u: no that was not a reference to Sherlock sorry)

The smugly look on his face vanished and it was all blank. "I'd stop being a smart a** and help me if you want all this to stop," Alvin explained seriously.

I chuckled but winced at my ribs and throbbing head, "Alvin you should know my answer by now."

"Hmmm...you're a tough one to break, but that means I'll be having more fun for longer," he smirked.

A I had seen earlier before walked up to Alvin and whispered in his ear. Alvin nodded and turned back to me his expression still blank apart from the little smirk that was really staring to get onto my nerves.

"Last chance Hiccup, will you help me train dragons?" he asked.

"Never," I replied clearly.

Alvin shrugged and left me alone in the empty cell again with the suffocating silence. I had no more physical strength left and I had never gotten anywhere close to tears like this since an elder dragon passed away when I was ten. I took a deep shaky breath and closed my eyes waiting for sleep to take over the pain and my thoughts.

Astrid's P.O.V

It's been two weeks now since we had gotten that letter from Hiccup. I was so worried and on edge that any time someone came up to talk to me I would snap at them and make them leave me alone. So nearly everyone was giving me my space which I was very glad about. We couldn't sail to recue Hiccup as soon as I wished to because when we came to the boats all our supplies on board and even the boats were on fire so every has been working hard to repair them and others are getting lost supplies.
