At A Distance

(Y/N)'s POV

I awoke to my alarm blaring. My fist slammed the button and it shut up. Sunlight poured into my room from the window and blurred my vision. Could I wake up one time without being blinded so much?

I sat up and rubbed my eyes. My vision came back to see the same old dorm. Various pops and cracks emitted from my stretched limbs. I got out of bed and did my usual routine.

Went to the bathroom where I showered and brushed my teeth, changed into a (f/c) t-shirt with a pair of jeans, and left my dorm. It was an off day so I was gonna hang with Team JNPR and Team RWBY.

I've been friends with them for two months. The first person I met was Ruby and that led me to her team and then to Jaune's team. Crazy bunch, but they're fun to be around.

I entered the cafeteria to see all of them at a table. They seemed to be playing a board game. I walked up to them and tuned in on the conversation going on.

Ruby: "Yang Xiao Long, prepare your kingdom for combat!!"

Yang: "Bring it on!!"

Ruby: "I deploy the Atlesian Air Fleet!!" She slammed a card on the table that shocked Yang. "Looks like I get to fly right over your Ursai and attack you walls directly!!"

Yang: "You fiend!!"

Ruby: "And since Atlas is a part of Mantle, my repair time is only one turn." Ruby was smiling devilishly while Yang chuckled.

Yang: "Pretty sneaky, sis, but you just activated my trap card!! Giant Nevermore!!" She slammed a card on the table just as I got behind Ruby. "If I roll a seven or higher, fatal feather will slice your fleet in two!!"

Ruby: "But if you roll a six or lower, the Nevermore will turn on your own forces!!"

Yang: "That's just a chance I'm willing to take." I watched as Yang rolled her dice. They fell to the table and revealed a nine.

Ruby: "Nooooo!! My fearless soldiers!!"

Yang: "Eh, most of them were probably androids." I placed my hand on top of Ruby's head and ruffled her hair which startled her.

(Y/N): "You'll get her next time Ruby." She turned around and smiled at me.

Ruby: "(Y/N)!!"

Pyrrha: "Isn't this supposed to be a library?"

Ren: "Thank you!!" Nora woke up with a jolt.

Nora: "Pancakes?!"

(Y/N): "I'm guessing you guys are busy?" All of them nodded except for Jaune.

Jaune: "I think I'll take a break from studying." He stood up and walked over to me. We bumped fists.

(Y/N): "Was thinking about training?"

Jaune: "I could go for a battle." We both nodded and left the library. It didn't take long for us to reach the school battle stadium. No one was in there so it was perfect.

Jaune stood at one end and I stood at the other. He got his sword and shield out while I unholstered my two tomahawks. We rushed each other and met in the middle.

The sword clashed with my tomahawk while the other kept pressure on his shield. He pushed me back and took a swing that I easily dodged. I countered with a slash to his chest.

He back off and got ready for another charge. A chill went down my spine and felt a presence. I looked towards the stands and saw nothing. Jaune slammed his shield into my chest and I went sprawling to the ground.
