Man Or Machine

This is a Robocop Male Reader x Penny requested by M4rionette. Also this is robocop from the 2014 movie a.k.a. the most recent one.

Ironwood's POV

I sat in my office waiting for the results from my top scientist. My scroll finally rang and I answered it.

Ironwood: "This is Ironwood."

Scientist: "General I have news about the subject."

Ironwood: "And that would be?"

Scientist: "It was a complete success."

Ironwood: "Good, I'll be down shortly to see for myself." I hung up the scroll and made my way out of the office. Finally, the ultimate soldier is finished.

(Y/N)'s POV

Darkness. Darkness is all I could see. I could hear the sound of machines all around me and then a voice.

???: "System activate." The darkness around me faded and my eyes began to open. General Ironwood and his top scientist stood in front of me.

Scientist: "(Y/N) can you hear me?" I nodded and looked around noticing I was in the middle of a room. I looked down at my body and went wide eyed. My body was incased in metal.

(Y/N): "Why am I in this thing?!?"

Scientist: "There was a mishap during your last mission. You were killed during the mission (Y/N) but, thanks to Atlas technology we were able to bring you back." He walked to a terminal and pressed a few buttons. The restraints around my body disengaged and I was free.

Scientist: "Please try moving forward." I moved slowly around the room and gradually picked up the pace. I could feel all the mechanical gears and components moving in this body. I stopped in front of the scientist.

(Y/N): "Doc this doesn't feel right. I want you take this stuff off me."

Scientist: "I can't (Y/N). I'm sorry."

(Y/N): "What do you mean you can't?!?" I began to try and grab random parts of the body to pull them off. "I want out of this thing Doc!!!"

Scientist: "Calm down (Y/N) you ne-" I grabbed him by the neck and hoisted him into the air.

(Y/N): "What did you do to me?!?" A visor placed itself over my head.

Ironwood: "(L/N)!!!" I let go of the scientist and looked at him. I walked past him as I felt tears fall down my face. My feet walked me out of the room and out of the Atlas building. I needed to get away.

Timeskip - Cliff Side

While I sat on the cliff side letting my feet dangle over the edge, I looked at the hands of this new body.

(Y/N): "What am I?" I flipped my hands to look at the other side of them. "Who am I?"

???: "(Y/N) (L/N) the highest ranking officer in the Atlas Army." I turned my head to see Penny walking towards me. She stopped and sat down next to me. "And one of the kindest people I have had the pleasure of meeting."

(Y/N): "I'm not anymore Penny. I don't know what I am now." She slapped me upside the head yet I didn't feel it.

Penny: "You are (Y/N) (L/N)."

(Y/N): "No, I'm not Penny." I could feel the tears running down my face. "I'm just a man in a machine's body."

Penny: "Yes you are." She grabbed my hand and lifted it in front of my face. "This metal doesn't make you who you are." She let go of my hand and placed hers on my chest. "Your heart makes you what you are."

(Y/N): "Thank you Penny."

Timeskip - 3 Months

After I returned to the Atlas building I formally apologized for my outburst, but they understood why and just let it be. At first, I didn't know who or what I was but as time went on I slowly pieced the puzzle together and with Penny's help I figured it out.

I stood atop the roof letting the wind blow against my face. I heard the door behind me open and after a couple of seconds Penny joined me near the railing.

Penny: "Salutations (Y/N)."

(Y/N): "Salutations Penny."

Penny: "So why did you want me to meet you up here?"

(Y/N): "I finally figured out who I am Penny."

Penny: "That is wonderful news!!!" She clapped her hands together excitingly. "What is your answer?"

(Y/N): "I am no machine. I am (Y/N) (L/N)." She wrapped her arms around me in a hug and I returned it.

Penny: "You always were."

(Y/N): "All thanks to you Penny." I lowered my face towards hers. I pressed my lips softly against herons savored the moment. We pulled apart and looked into one another's eyes.

We separated and walked back into the building hand-in-hand.

Was I a machine?

Was I a man?

No, I am me and nobody else.
