Chapter 23- Exile and Tragedy

'You're unstable.' Those words repeated in your mind like broken record. 'You have to leave.' Tears welled up. It's been about an hour since you had that strong talking to with the gems. To sum it up, they said that if you don't want to be poofed and bubbled, than You need to leave the Crystal gems and live somewhere else. Exile. Your ran and ran, voices in your mind repeating. 'Unstable.' 'Unwanted.' 'cOrRuPtEd.' You stopped, you felt sick. Sharp little pains in your back, arms, and head. You kneeled down from the agony. You felt your teeth grow sharp, as well as your fingers. You couldn't see it, but your eyes faded to black, and your hair was a mess. A hard, spiked shell appeared on your back. "STOP!" You said through gritted teeth. You can't go, not like this. You are going to willpower your way out of this. You felt all the evidence of corruption sink away back into your now scratched up and bruised (color) skin. Your clothes were torn at the bottom. You put your hands to your face and started crying. "Why does it have to be me?!" You screamed to no one. You suddenly stopped. A plan formed in your mind. What could you do to get yourself back with them? You ran as fast as you could to the house. You need to warp somewhere. You don't care where, just somewhere. You stopped in front of the house and your eyes widened. The door was smashed down, the window shattered. You jumped over the porch and landed in front of the door. Or, what was left of it. The house was a wreck. Glass everywhere, a few floor boards broken, the table by the couch smashed. The floor is wet. You noticed something on the warp pad. It's a folded up piece of paper with your name on it. You frantically unfolded it, accidentally ripping a corner in the process. You finished unfolding, and on the paper were words written in sloppy gem language, as if it was rushed. It read; "If you ever want to see Lazuli again, come to Mask island. And come alone, or I'll shatter her!" You had no idea who could've taken Lapis at first but then it hit you like a small truck. It's Jasper. She's still alive and you know it. The gems never found her at the crash site. You just assumed you had destroyed her, but somehow she escaped. What should you do? This could be a blatant trap. Well, it's obviously a trap, but should you tell the gems? They said to never come back... And Jasper did say come alone... You know Garnet can't see you because you're corrupt, or so you think. So if you die the gems will never know where or how or even if you died. What does Jasper want with you anyways? You made up your mind, subconsciously dropping the paper without you realizing. You are going to confront Jasper and take Lapis back. No matter the cost. You've got plenty of tricks up your sleeve, as the humans say. You closed your eyes and stepped on the warp pad, "Take me to Mask island." You repeated in your head. You heard the warp pad 'BRING!' And you felt yourself floating in the chilly air for a bit. You opened your eyes on Mask Island. It's raining. 'Fitting weather,' you thought. You started running around, looking for any signs of Jasper or Lapis. You are not going to let a happy gem like Lapis become another prisoner. Mask island is a big place, you'll be looking for a while.

Garnet's POV
Where is (G/n) headed off to? I check future vision, but... They aren't there. All I see is a void where they should be. I fear for them. I wonder where they are going and how long it will be before they're able to come back. What if they don't want to come back? Pearl was pretty harsh on them...
(Flashback)

"You have to leave, now." Pearl said. "W-what?" (G/n) asked, their eyes went wide. "You know what we mean." (G/n) paused, contemplating their actions. "N-no, I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean it..." "Of course you did, you unstable freak!" "But I-I'm sorry, I truly am...please..." "No buts! If you don't leave right this instant we'll... We'll Poof and bubble you, you corrupted monster!" I could see (G/n)'s face, they had tears running down their cheeks. "I'm not a monster..." Their gaze was fearful. "Yes you are! A horrible, ugly, terrible monster! Now go before you hurt somebody!" Pearl yelled, but not loud enough for Steven to hear. Pearl summoned her spear, pointing it at (G/n). "Leave, or I'll shatter you." Amethyst an I held her back.
(G/n)'s tears flowed down their face like a river. They turned around slowly and walked a few steps before speeding away covering their face, leaving a small fire trail behind. We watched them run until they were out of sight. "...good riddance..." I heard Pearl mutter under her breath as they dissipated her spear. "Pearl, that was kind of harsh. You really hurt their feelings. Did they really deserve that?" Amethyst said, a sad look in her eyes. "Oh please Amethyst, they're corrupted. They don't have feelings. Not anymore." Pearl must really hate (G/n) now. She's not showing any remorse in what she's saying. "You're just jealous because we fused! That's all you've ever been! Do you really think telling them those things will help them stay uncorrupted?!" Amethyst yelled. Pearl looked very angry. "You should be happy we didn't decide to poof them on the spot." She hissed. Before it could get any worse, I stepped in. "Stop fighting you two. We should be working on the drill. Or, more importantly, finding out a way to tell Steven his friend is gone." Speaking of Steven, he ran out if the barn with a strange object in his hand. It's a diamond communicator.
