Meg's body lay in the med bay, hooked up to many different machines instead of simply an IV bracelet. Gideon was testing for any signs of life, jump starting her heart, analyzing her blood, giving her oxygen, the works. But nothing seemed to be working.

Mick put a hand on Ray's shoulder, the billionaire staring blankly at his love's dead body as tears slowly rolled down his cheek.

"We should go help the rest of the team. They need us." The former bounty hunter said. Ray numbly nodded his head, clutching Margaret's light pendent tightly in his hand.

"I can't leave her... what if-"

"I'm sure Gideon would inform you if anything happened." Mick shrugged, dragging Ray away from the med bay, "Besides... she's a goner, Ray."

That was the first time Mick had ever said Ray's name to his face- and even though it wasn't intentional or in the nicest of tones, it was enough for the Atom to slowly nod his head. Maybe if he left- a miracle would happen, and Meg would be happy, alive, and waiting for him when he got back.

---

As they arrived in 2021, Mick and Ray found Savage dead- again- on the floor, surrounded by a pool of his own blood. Sara turned to Mick and Ray, giving them a questionable look.

"Did you do it?" She asked. Ray numbly nodded his head up and down, not making eye contact with any members of the team.

"Where's Meg?" Jax asked, folding his arms. He always thought of her as that quirky sister he never had. Even though they only met four months ago- each member of the team had already formed a strong bond with one another.

Ray stayed silent, unsure of how to put the tragedy into words. Meg was basically dead- it seemed simple enough to say... But could he do it?

"She was badly hurt after she killed Savage... she said she was fine, but she knew she was dying... and when the meteorite began to get unstable, she used her powers to absorb the light, then..." Ray trailed off, holding in his tears.

"They're both dead."

Kendra put a hand to her mouth, burying her head into Carter's shoulder. Jax and Stein shared grim looks, and Sara stared at her hands, letting a tear fall from her eye.

Rip couldn't help but blame himself. If he had been there- maybe she would have survived absorbing the energy.

"Raymond... I'm sorry." Stein said, "I know how much you loved her."

The whole team stood in silence, unsure of what to do.

They had killed Savage- destroyed all three meteors... But they still felt like they lost. Meg was the one who completed the team. Even though for a while she was in a dark place- everyone could find some sort of comfort in her somehow. Whether it be a sibling- like bond, or the bond of a father to daughter- or even romantically...

Everyone cared for her in someway, despite the team's ups and downs.

And now there was no way she'd come back.

---------

"A full compliment." Rip said, giving everyone a weak smile, "To be honest, I had my doubts that all of you would be willing to throw in with me for a second go."

"Well, actually..." Kendra began, trailing off, "We're not coming with you."

"With Savage gone, we want to start fresh, see what happens." Carter said, squeezing his soul mate's hand tightly.

"I give it three months, tops." Mick said to Sara, who chuckled softly.

"Look, I just... I want to say thank you. To all of you." Kendra said, "And... I'm sorry about Meg... Even though we didn't get along that much... She was like a sister to me."

"Be safe." Jax waved as the couple took off hand in hand.

"See you guys around. " Sara called, folding her arms after she waved to them.

Mick then pulled out a chicken leg, munching happily on it, "Every time they do that, I get hungry for chicken." He grinned.

"Gross." Sara scrunched up her nose, stepping away from Heat Wave. Rip exchanged a look with each member of the team- all of whom still had some heavy hearts.

"So... shall we?" The former Time Master asked, rubbing his hands together to try and break the grieving silence.

Suddenly, there were some loud banging noises, the sound of another space ship. Everyone turned their heads to look at the sky, where a very familiar sight comes racing towards them.

"Is that... The Waverider?" Sara asked, squinting to get a closer look.

"Another Waverider?" Ray offered.

"Whatever it is, it's not slowing down." Rip said, "Get down!"

Everyone ducked behind buildings, cars, or whatever they could find. The ship crashed, steam flying off of the thing.

"What the hell's going on?" Jax asked, the first to come out from his hiding place.

"To be honest, Mr. Jackson, I have absolutely no idea." Stein said, adjusting his glasses.

Someone walked out of the ship, clad in a hood.

"Is this 2016?" He asked, "May, 2016?"

"Yeah." Sara said, quirking a brow, "Why?"

The man smiled, letting out a sigh of relief.

"That's exactly where she said you'd be. Don't get on that ship- if you do, you're all dead."

Ray looked up, eyeing the area around the "other" Waverider.

"Who are you, and who sent you?" Mick asked, folding his arms with a stern expression.

"That's an excellent question Mr. Rory." Says the man, "My name is Rex Tyler- I am apart of the Justice Society of America."

"Who the hell sent you?" Sara repeated the question, squinting her eyes at this 'Rex'.

"I don't know who she is, or what she has to do with you..." Rex says, "She found us- and told us what to do. No one saw her face- it was always an audio recording-"

"Who is she?" Jax cut him off.

"She goes by the name of Shadow." Rex said.

Shadow? The team looked wearily at each other.. Meg was dead- how could she be sending messages if she was dead?

That's when Ray's earpiece beeped loudly- scaring him half to death. He listened to the message briefly before turning to the others.

"Gideon found a pulse."
