-Enjoy! I don't feel like this oneshot was good enough though.-
Being young and reckless meant you would be more likely to force yourself into a corner in which you had to make a even more risky decision. However, youth was something entirely different for those born during a time of war and famine. Even surviving another day was extremely unlikely, and thousands of other teenagers like you were killed off every single day. But you were one of the strongest of the bunch, and you would never go down without a fight. That was precisely your vulnerability, you never knew when to back down. But for you it was something understandable, because you had a good enough reason for hating the world you lived in.
Everyone that you cared about had died during the breach of Wall Maria. You watched every single one of them being gnawed into pieces of flesh and bone. You could still remember the fresh scent of blood coating your whole body from above. Ever since that day, your eyes remained soulless and murky. However, it ignited a deep hatred for the giant oppressors that threatened to drive your species into extinction. Until every single one of them were terminated, you would neither perish nor give up on humanity. You may not have had brawn, but you had intellect.
You were so determined to fight the titans until the end of your miserable life. Yet, your agility was quickly taken away from you too. Before the incident, you were known to be the fastest on your feet, but without a pair of legs, you had become a good for nothing burden to the rest of the squad had to lug around.
"What the fuck are you doing?"
A menacing male's voice growls behind you and you grip your wheelchair tightly before turning around with a glower.
"I'm studying." you hiss as you motion towards the bloody book on your lap.
"You're dirtying the floor with your filthy blood." he says dangerously as his own glare burns into the back of your skull.
"I would appreciate it if you just left me alone...Commander. I refuse to become a cripple that will serve no purpose for the Survey Corps." you breathe.
"You will have even less of a purpose if you FUCKING DIE. So get your shitty ass back to the infirmary and STAY THERE or I'll drag you there myself." he threatens.
"Sir...I'm going to die anyway! How's a legless girl going to run away if titans were to come ploughing through our base?" You whisper hysterically.
"If Erwin can command a whole army without an arm, you can benefit this squad without your legs. You still have your brain, woman, you're forgetting to use it."
You attempt to retort back with some cleverly worded insult, but you were already starting to reach your limit. Your reopened wounds were practically gushing blood now, and sweat began to drip down the corners of your chin. As you topple forwards weakly, a shoulder is there to catch you. You feel yourself being lifted up into his arms and your eyes well up with tears before they flutter shut completely.
As you are ripped away from his arms by the doctors, Levi observes your peaceful face. His eyes then trail down to your lower half and his fingers automatically clench over each other. The whole infirmary grows quiet as everybody witnessed the strongest man shed a tear. The sobs were stifled at first as he attempted to conceal his anguish, but it was already much too late. All of his defences were washed away with his tears. He drops to his knees before knocking his intertwined fists against the bridge of his nose while pressing his forehead on the cold wooden floor.
Levi was always the longest standing man during every single battle. He was the one that could save thousands from their inevitable deaths.
Yet he was incapable of saving a broken spirit.
