"Daddy!!!!" Your daughter exclaims happily as she hears the door rattle open noticeably.
A small smile tugs on your face as you watch your daughter throw herself on to your husband for a big hug. You swear that you saw Levi's face light up, but you just decide to keep that to yourself.
You dry your hands on your apron before heading out to greet him yourself. He looked tired, yet he didn't let it show through his face and positive, even though his dark circles were quite evident at this point.
"Welcome home." You greet him as usual and he puts down his daughter before wrapping his arms around your waist for a loose and comforting hug. You could smell of his cologne as you hugged him back.
"Where's (Your Son's Name)?" He asks as he looks around the room.
"He's taking his nap." You nod towards the children's room and his face relaxes.
"(Your Daughter's Name). You go do your homework and show it to me later okay? Mommy and I need to relax a little bit. We're both tired." Levi ruffles her hair fondly before she totters on out of the living room and back to her own.
"She's such a daddy's girl." You chuckle as you bring out a cup of tea for him.
"Well then (Your Son's Name) is your boy, am I wrong?" His eyes crinkle as he smiles cheekily before picking up his cup by the rim as usual.
"I'm surprised he's taken after you. He doesn't seem to like the idea of being a manly man, but I suppose that's not a bad thing." He hums as he wraps his arms around your waist as you sit down next to him.
"Levi?" You murmur his name.
"Hmm?" He hums in response.
"Are you happy?" You ask timidly and you feel him stir behind you.
"Yes. I am happy. For once in my shitty life I am happy." He whispers behind your ear and you cannot help but feel warm and loved inside.
"That's good. I'm happy too. I'm happy that you came back to me after the war. I don't know what I would have done if you left me." You shiver at the thought.
"That day where humanity was in jeopardy, they told us to focus on one important thing in my life when all hell was breaking loose. They told us that it would help us concentrate on returning alive. I thought about you. So I should be thanking you for helping me survive." His voice dips low.
"What do you think the future is going to be like?" You ask as you run your hand along his cheek lovingly.
Levi pulls his hand up and runs his hand behind your ear before pulling you into a soft and short kiss.
"I guess we'll have to find out together."
