8 months laterNadia POV
The past 8 months have gone by in a breeze. De'marcus and I started planning our wedding 5 months ago. We have everything together except for the final decorations... and my dress. I haven't anything that feels like "the one". I've been to like 5 different bridle shops and I've tried on so many different dresses. They are either to tight and I can't fit my booty and thighs in, to big making me look 10 times fatter, or just straight up ugly. Im about ready to give up and walk down the isle in sweat pants. I can't deal, the wedding is in three months and the tailors need time to adjust the dress and make any changes I want or need. Today is the last fitting that the bridesmaids and groomsmen have, now it's just me and De'marcus.
I do all my hygiene things and put on some ripped jeans and a lime green and pink just do it hoodie with my lime green and pink roshes and take my phone and keys. I hop in my truck and head over to the wedding coordinator place to make the final decisions on the decoration set up and the menu. I pull up next to De'marcus's challenger and quickly hop out. I look at the time and see im 10 minutes late, but I mean black people are never on time anyway. I walk into building and get escorted to the back room to find De'marcus and the wedding planner.
N-"Sorry Im late Jackson, I lost track of time"
J-"No problem sweetie, me and you lovely husband to be were just going over what we discussed last session. Come on at take a seat so we can make this big decision" he smiles putting a little extra something into the word lovely. De'marcus looks at him in disgust. I giggle and take a seat.
J-"Okay. So, we last discussed that we would be doing a black, white, and grey theme.. is that correct" he states as he flips through his binder
N-"Correct."
J-"Good now, Im going to show you all some decorations and you will pick them. Then we will move on to finish the menu you and we will be done."
D-"Good.... I can take this sexual harassment by a nigga any longer" he whispers
I pinch his arm and glare at him. He gives me the puppy dog eyes
J-"Alright. Take your pick with the invitations I made some designs for you"
I turn my attention to De
N-"I like the grey based one what do you think?"
he scans over the 5 choices in front of us
D-"Nah ion like that one. I like the black and white ne with the velvet cover" I nod
N-"That is nice" I pick it up and observe it, it's cute. "We will use this one... in 175 copies. Here is the guest list" I pull it out of my purse
J- he takes it "Now with the tables. I was thinking something like this" he slides a picture over to us "Now, the colors are different but we will use the same style with your color scheme. Here is an animated version we did with your colors." he slides that over to us "Theses are the quest tables and this.. is the head table"
N-"This is amazing. It's perfect... I want it"
D-"Damn. didn't even ask me how I felt"
N-"I don't care, I want it"
D-"You better be lucky I like it to."
N-"I would have gotten it even if you didn't like it." he sucks his teeth cause he knows it's true. I turn my attention back to Jackson "How would the lighting work? Its gonna be really dark in there."
J-"Im glad you asked. The head table and the curtains behind it light up when it's dark. And I was going to install chandlers for when its party time, so it's not light but it's not too dark. It'll be lit dimly" I nod.
