HELLO HELLO HELLO ALL YOU WONDERFUL FANTASTIC PEOPLE!
hopefully all your exams (if you had any) went well and even if they didn't hey, at least you tried (now if only I could tell that to the adjudicator of my piano exam...)
FOCUS
alright so despite my attempt to make the title of this chapter....angry, I guess (but this is a rant book? so technically i am angry about something? anything? everything?)
WHY AM I GETTING SO OFF TRACK
so other then my wonderful fantastic couple days off from school that i've spent eating, and on netflix (omg gossip girl guys, i finished the 1st season I WAS SO ANGRY)
ALRIGHT NO MORE BEATING AROUND THE BUSH OR THE GERMAN SCHLIEFFEN PLAN (i like to use the schlieffen plan as a metaphor as in reality during world war 1 germany decided to attack france but decided to go through neutral belgium instead in a ways of "going around" france and i like to use this as i'm seeming to continue to avoid what i'm supposed to say)
HERE WE GO
it's 2015. we have definitely evolved a lot as humans especially in the areas of technology. I mean, flick a switch and BAM there's light! You couldn't do that a thousand years ago instead you had to light up a candle which required fire.
and with this technology there's also the wonderful thing that i like to call the internet (my best friend who i don't think can ever abandon me after all it's the WORLD WIDE WEB, so it ain't goin nowhere) and laptops (my bae) and phones (my cherished child).
BUT WITH TECHNOLOGY COMES RESPONSIBILITY
see there's all sorts of problems that end up arising because hey, nothing's ever perfect. I mean, the big iphone 6 is able to bend, and laptops end up getting slow and sometimes the wifi doesn't work. and hey my tumblr drafts have been acting up and I still have no idea why which was extremely frustrating after writing a full thing and not being able to post it...
but the other thing about this technology that we use daily (i.e laptops, phones) are meant to actually CONNECT us. I can easily skype my grandparents in england right now and it's no problem! just click, wait and hey presto their faces are blown up onto my laptop screen.
but the other thing is that this technology is also disconnecting us. when we think we're communicating...we might not be.
for example: I shouldn't have to find out from a friend that they're clearly angry at ME because of some tweet they sent out, or some status they made on facebook or whatever. maybe instead they should not pull a schlieffen plan on me and just GO IN HEADFIRST! there's nothing wrong with talking about it!
it's like technology is our new wall to hide behind. if you don't wanna talk to a person you just text them, and even if you don't feel like texting them you just ignore them anyways! we don't even call anymore with our phones i mean, i called at least 5 different friends to try and talk because the truth is- it's so much better to actually SAY something rather then text it out.
so the real question is: is the stuff that we're saying "connects" us really taking us backwards instead? are we becoming even more disconnected then ever?
truth is i don't know. I know technology has its perks. and i'm not gonna lie- sometimes i'm addicted to my phone! but I think we need to start using our technology properly. If what we're using is supposed to help us connect and communicate with others- THEN DO THAT.
so that ends the rant of today! hopefully some of you feel like you're in the same boat with me on this topic....
anyways stay fabulous!
xx
