HELLO HELLO HELLO!
so you guys are probably thinking "what's this rattle thing?" well see me and my gorgeous bestie Boring_Tings thought it would be cool to do this rant battle thing. basically it's one topic, but two opinions, mine vs hers (and i'll link her chapter so that you can go read it) and then you guys can comment and vote on who's opinion you agree with/who you think wins the battle!
*just a note i didn't come up with the name "rattle"...totally @Boring_Tings idea not mine don't judge
ON THAT NOTE
LET THE BATTLE BEGIN!
*boxing bell rings*
announcer voice: ANNNNDDDD in this corner we have heartrain31259 who is against the banning of the kilt (aka i think kilts should be kept as part of a school uniform)
*bell ding*
HERE WE GO!
alright so at my school we do have uniforms and part of the female uniform is a kilt. now 95% of girls who wear the kilt roll them up, and they often do it to a short length (mind you it covers their butts). we're the only catholic school now in our region to keep the kilt as part of our uniform, as other schools have banned it BECAUSE girls would roll them.
now our school had done a couple things with the kilt including making opaque tights a mandatory item along with it. but now we have this new vice principal and my god...*deep breath* see she first talked about the kilt, and alright yes the kilt is short there is no denying that but she went on about how it was "elegant" and "if your kilt is making anyone uncomfortable then you will be asked to roll it down" and then she came onto the announcements the other day saying we were to come to the mass with our kilts at a "respectable" length.
SO HERE'S THE THING
1. do NOT use "respectable" as a way to describe a dress code policy of any sorts. just because the length of MY kilt isn't say, two inches above the knee doesn't mean you should RESPECT ME any LESS. what you are wearing does not define the respect you get or earn. clothes are just pieces of fabric that are keeping you from being completely naked!
2. i am not here to please the likes of people. i don't understand how seeing my legs is "uncomfortable". FYI people! GIRLS HAVE LEGS *gasps* SO DO GUYS *more gasps* SO DO A LOT OF PEOPLE ON THE PLANET *screams* DEAL WITH IT
3. WHY ARE YOU SEXUALIZING WHAT I AM WEARING and SHOWING? Guess what maybe I'm actually confident with my body and I'm comfortable with showing off my thighs cuz hey they're muscle and they can make me run a mile
anyways so do i think kilts should be banned? no WAY and here are my reasons why:
1. kilts can be long or short. i mean, they're pree flexible!
2. wearing pants can be boooorrrrriinnngggg and besides if you're on your period you don't want underwear lines on your pants let alone an accidental blood leak.... (trust me on this one, one of my friends had her period bleed through her underwear and all onto her pants and thankfully we had sweats we could give her)
3. there's nothing wrong with how short the skirt is as long as your butt isn't hanging out! (if it is, roll it down: wow how easy is that?)
4. just sayin....men in scotland wear kilts. and they wear'em short too! so i dont see why we can't either!
5. if schools want to do whatever they can introduce things like tights and if they are REALLY being uncomfortable about the length (again they're LEGS people!) then just put a measurement like mid-thigh or something? like idk!?
so yeah that's my whole side of the story....
so you guys can also go read Boring_Tings side of this and give whichever side you support a vote and/or comment!
*ding ding*
that concludes the rattle!
xx
