Hello!
So sorry for the short update last time, I guess I somehow compressed my thoughts well enough to make a "rant"....but we can't live in the past right?
MOVING ON
So today I wanted to rant about "boosting". Boosting essentially is when you're somewhere and you try to show off and brag about whatever you feel will put you above everyone else.
This will make more sense as I go along - trust me.ONTO THE RANT!
So I was at my law program camp thing and see the thing with this program is that it attracts many people not only from around Canada but even a few around the world.
So of course this just simply means that most people who are here all come from different walks of life, and there's no problem with that! We're all different.
But here's what happens.
People are privileged. I get that. And some are slightly spoiled. I get that too. But sometimes I find some of this stuff so stupid.
Let me explain.
So the first day that all the law students are together we were all gathering and people are chilling. But then there are two girls who come in, one with a prada purse over her shoulder and another with a longchamp. And the next day they wore WEDGES to the class, and they were Michael Kors wedges! Like: ??? The truth is these girls were actually really nice and I became friends with them, but it was obvious that they lived a completely different life where money was just something you spend. And even one of them said to me "I never have a budget when I go shopping" and truth is I never have a budget either but I know when something isn't worth buying, and if I'm not getting a good deal or not and this girl just spends it like there's no tomorrow
Now I get that people have these things and it's great to have them. But at the same time I felt like people were just simply doing this stuff to show off.
There was even one girl who lied, and said that her dad had a Bentley (they drove like a honda or somethin). Like: ?? K
And the final story. I was never really friends with this girl and I didn't talk to her much but based on what I heard from one of my friends I was sorta glad I didn't associate with her...
So this girl is pretty, and stuff and I think she was talking about her job or something. So then naturally you ask where they work and she replied "oh I do some modelling on the side" and of course that's pretty cool and all right?
And of course people were like "oh so whaddya model for" and stuff and she said that (apparently?) she was in ads for clash of clans, game of war (which is Kate upton) and other things. So of course people are like cool but at the same time it's kinda shady cuz that stuff is really big. And of course people try looking for it and then she starts saying things like "oh yeah you're not gonna be able to find it" and stuff like that, and then when people tried to find images then she was like "guys it's embarrassing the stuff is from when I was like 7"
So on top of attempting to boost herself and getting caught on the bullshit, the people there started lookin at some other friend of a person who was a legit model and then this "model" girl then turns around and tries to boost herself AGAIN. Like wtf??
Honestly at the end of the day, it doesn't matter what car you drive or what phone you have. It also seriously doesn't matter whether you have this brand or not. If your friends are friends with you because you're rich or you have certain things: DUMP THEM. They seriously aren't worth it.
What does matter is if you're a good person inside because no matter how many things you have or how much money there is, that will never be enough compared to being a kind person.
Hopefully you're all having a swaggin summer (don't ask me why I'm using swag I just am) and you're out there having fun! (Or watching netflix...)
Peace out Girl Scouts ✌️
xx
