The day was long and boring, a certain dullness to the atmosphere. Which is partly why I was at the monastery with the ninja, who were also bored, and insisted on playing a much more dangerous version of hide and seek.
In order to find someone and make them the 'seeker', we had to tackle each other. That sounds so safe, right? I didn't think so, and neither did Nya who is holding an ice pack to her forehead as she hides next to me. Lloyd tackled her and she hit her head on the table, but he felt so bad that he was it, yet again.
"Boo!" Lloyd shouted from another room down the hall. There was a loud thud, followed by a groan and the next thing I know, the door swung open and Jay stumbled in. "I'm it, yada yada, go hide," he mumbled, then trudging out of the room. Nya and I exchanged looks and shrugged, hopping out of the room and splitting up to go hide.
We had two minutes to find a hiding spot and by the time those two minutes were up, I had already found Cole and Kai's hiding places and needed to find my own. I had no idea where Nya or Zane was.
I was currently crouched behind a flower pot in the courtyard of the monastery and was hoping Jay wouldn't come near me. But I was jinxed.
Jay spotted me and grinned, running for my spot. I leaped to my feet and sprinted the other direction, my feet pounding on the hard ground. I ran right into the kitchen, Jay following close behind me on my heels.
I hopped over a fork on the ground and planted my feet, but not before a puddle remained unseen by me.
My foot slipped on the puddle of water and I flipped, landing on my back on the ground. I groaned and tried to catch my breath, but the air was knocked out of me. "Y/N!" Jay called, sliding to my side.
I coughed rapidly and struggled to find air, my voice supply also cut off completely. Jay sat me up and started to pat my back rapidly, trying to get air into my lungs. "Breathe, Y/N, breathe, come on," he pleaded, watching the color drain from my cheeks.
Finally, after what felt like three to four minutes, I took a deep breath of gracious air and breathed deep, my eyes wide with fear. The last time that has ever happened was when I was rollerblading and fell on my back. I was nearly seven then.
"That was scary, Y/N. Maybe we should just take a break, yeah? Let's go in my room," he suggested, helping me to my feet. I silently obliged with a nod of my head and followed Jay as he announced the game was finished.
What a day.
