Kai
Your POV

I was walking back to my apartment in New Ninjago City. I turned left past a series of three shops but they were closed due to the time. It was nearly eleven at night. I walked past the third shop and continued to walk past an ally.

In a seconds time past the ally, I felt a strong hand clasp over my mouth. I tried to pry it away but ended getting kneed in my side. I whimpered a cry of pain and got dragged into an ally.

I always try to keep my profile low because there is no reason to draw attention to myself.

"Why you look mighty young to be roaming the streets at this time of night. Why are you out here by yourself."

The man reeked of desperation and alcohol. It was really no business of his as to what I was doing out on the streets.

"That's none of your business." I calmly recited. I turned to retreat back to my stroll back home when he grabbed my wrist.

I winced in pain and anger grew on my face. I kicked his shin and darted out of the ally. I continued to run until I was tackled onto the ground.

"Oomph." I grumbled as I hit the ground. I rolled out of reach and jumped to my feet. I was almost out of reach when the man pulled my ankle. He twisted his hands and I fell to the ground. Before he could do anything else, a red figure jumped on top of him.

A blue figure zapped lightning...? The drunken man was laying on the floor with electric shocks coursing through his body.

Another man in black stood by the drunken man while a figure in white looked towards my ankle.

"Your ankle is indeed twisted." He said to me. I pulled to my feet and spun around facing the red man.

"We're the ninja. What are you doing out this late?"

"Uh- as I told the man, none of your business. I have an apartment to get back to so if you don't mind..." I said slowly trotting backwards. My ankle was swollen and in pain so I limped out of the way.

"What do we call you?" The red one yelled.

"Y/N." I replied.

I walked past two more alleys to my apartment. I unlocked the door and checked my grandmother's temperature. Still she has a fever.

I crawled into a ball on the wooden floor and warmed myself in a blanket. I promised tomorrow I would find what I needed for Grandmother.

Time Skip: 8 Hours- 7 am

I woke up to the smell of smoke in the apartment complex. I opened the door and saw fire burning at the stairway. I gasped and slammed it back shut, trying to get my own grandmother safe. I opened the window and saw many people walking about the streets.

"Help!" I yelled, not knowing what else to do. "Fire!"

I caught the attention of a news cast and few pedestrians walking about.

I opened my door and started banging on the doors of my neighbors. "Get out! Fire!" A few answered their doors and ran to their Emergency Escape. I was thinking about running there, but by the time I would get my grandmother out, the building would be filled with fire.

Everyone had evacuated the building except for my grandmother and I. I closed the door once more and looked around my room. I packed a bag of medicines and clothes just as my grandmother was beginning to wake up.

She sat up and smelt the smoke, looking around in confusion. I went over to the window and yelled again,

"Hey! Up here!" I knew my grandmother couldn't walk so there was no way to escape.

Fire started to frame my wooden door. Suddenly there was fire everywhere around the room. I slung my grandmother over my back when five figures burst into the room. I placed my grandmother back onto the bed for their help.

One started to burn out the fire with ice, while another took my grandmother from the bed. One figure in black was holding the ceiling.

"Kai, everyone's out, get out of here."

Kai and the blue man and white man ran out of the room, leaving the man in black to hold the celing. A man in green took my grandmother but no one knew I was still in the room. I couldn't shout because of the toxic air. I was trapped.

The man in black ran out of the room and the building started to collapse. Beams above me were starting to fall so I ran to the window. "What about (Y/N), she told us to get out but she's not here!" One of my neighbors, Mrs. Trumphant yelled.

I coughed while speaking. My vision was starting to blur and didn't have perfect vision.

I leaned outside the window and desperately cried one last time.

"Help! I'm the only one left! Please!" Beams started to fall as one fell directly over my head. My door was blocked, the window was boarded by a beam. heard screams outside and heard people shouting.

If I was going to live, I had to jump. I slung the bag over my shoulder and ran towards the fallen beam in front of the window. I hurled my body over the beam with the smallest gap to fly through. My tiny body fit through the gap and out the window. I was flying in air directly to the nearby building.

I grabbed the edge of the opposing building and tried to push myself on top of it. My hand slipped and I almost fell about forty feet. I heard screams in the crowd as some colored figures were running to the building I was trying to pull myself onto.

I managed to pull myself up just as the apartment building exploded.

The explosion was so impacting and strong that even I, who was fifteen feet away, got hurled away. My body on top of the roof was pounded to the crowd. I landed on my back and doubled over in pain. I heard gasps. Mrs. Trumphant flooded me with questions that I didn't answer.

The man in  a red suit came and helped me up, looking into my eyes. I stayed frozen for a second, remembering this figure from last night. He flipped down his hood, exposing messy brown hair and amber eyes. "Y/N?" he asked me, recognizing me.

"Yeah, that's me."

"I'm Kai, are you okay?"
