"I can't believe you got us all thrown into the pit!" Teresa scowled at the three boys across from us, one of them kneeling on the floor and the others standing with their arms crossed.

"We know Teresa. You've said that four shucking times already," Minho teased, each of them sharing a glare. "This whole thing is really Thomas's fault."

Thomas jumped up from the floor with his hand over his chest. "Me?! How is this my fault?"

"You're the one who made the dare," I chimed in. "And Minho gave him the idea!"

"Yeah, but Newt's the one who said to play the game!" He fought back.

"It's not Newt's fault he wanted to play a game! You shouldn't have dared us to do something like that!" Teresa scoffed beside me and moved her glare from Minho onto me.

"Stop defending your boyfriend! He's the reason we're stuck in here for the night! If he didn't want to play this stupid game-" I cut her off while the three boys had the same fight right beside us.

"You shouldn't have taken the dare then!"

-- two hours earlier --

"Hey guys. Why don't we play a game," Newt offered while taking his seat beside me in the circle. Our group of friends (Minho, Thomas, Newt, Teresa and myself) had all grabbed our dinner trays and sat in a circle outside to eat.

"Sure!" Teresa smiled excitedly to answer for all of us. "What game?"

"Truth or dare." The other two nodded in agreement and waited for Newt to start. "Okay, Minho, truth or dare."

"Dare. You know I've never done truth before so why would I now?" Minho chuckled while putting his weight on his arms behind him to stretch out.

Newt rolled his eyes. "I dare you to switch your shoes to the opposite foot and walk around the entire glade," Newt grinned proud of his dare.

"Alright shuckface, but that's the easiest dare I've done." Minho quickly switched his shoes and walked off towards the kitchen where most of the other boys were getting dinner. Teresa and I laughed watching him trip a few times over his own feet.

He walked around for a minute before sitting back down in his seat with red cheeks. Apparently, Alby said something to him that got him all flustered but he wouldn't say what. He just shook it off with the annoying smirk he always had.

"Thomas! Truth or dare," he asked his friend to his left.

Thomas had a mouth full of food when he mumbled, "truth."

"Sisie," Minho muttered under his breath, but I heard so I kicked him hard in the leg. "Would you rather spend a month in the pit with Gally or a night in the maze?"

"I've already done one of those things so I'm gonna chose the grievers," Thomas answered, making the rest of us laugh. We all knew how much he hated Gally but we didn't know it was 'griever sized' hate. "Teresa. Truth or dare?"

Teresa usually kept out of games like this since the boys never played easy. They chose the hardest dares or the weirdest questions. It wasn't always enjoyable but they were still my friends.

"Dare," she said hesitantly. She almost always chose truth, but I guess she didn't feel like embarrassing herself like on other nights.

Minho leaned in to Thomas and whispered something in his ear. Newt and I shared a look, knowing this was not going to turn out well.

"I dare you to let out all the animals in the Blood-house and then catch them all."

"No! I can't do that by myself! There's like ten animals in there!" She exclaimed shaking her head. The Blood-house had one gate holding in all eight animals that Winston would kill and slice up to give to Frypan. I had only been in there once and that was my first week here to try out for the job.

"Then take (Y/N) with you. The dare will be for the girls then," Minho offered waving his hand at me.

I stood up and held my hand out for Teresa, who took it nervously. "We'll do it, but when we come back, you two are gonna get it."

Teresa and I ran off towards the Blood-house to where the kept the animals. Teresa was very nervous as she plugged her nose to rid of the awful smell. I honestly wasn't sure how Winston and the other slicers could breath in here.

"(Y/N). I-I don't think this is a good idea," she stuttered while pulling on my arm. I agreed with her- this wasn't a good idea, but if we forfeited the dare, we would have to go in the pit for a night and I didn't want that either.

"Relax. We'll just open the door and let only some of them out. Then we'll just quickly grab them and pull them back before Alby sees us. Don't worry. This'll be over before you know it." She mustered a small smile and followed right behind me.

The gate held back two goats, two pigs, three chickens, and one turkey. I undid the latch and moved out of the way so the animals could escape. The chickens ran out first and out of the Blood-house before the pigs squealed and ran after them.

After all the animals escaped, we ran out of the Blood-house to go after them, only they were scattered around the glade. The chickens were pecking at a bag of flour stacked behind the kitchen and the pigs were eating plants in the garden.

"Oh no," I mumbled also noticing I couldn't find the turkey or the goats. "This was a bad idea."

Teresa gasped and threw her hands down. "I knew it was! But you told me to-"

"I know! I'm sorry. But we need to get those animals back in the pen before Alby finds them. You go get the chickens and I'll go get the boys. This is their fault so they have to help," I explained before running off back towards where we just had dinner.

The boys were laughing and pointing at the goats who were jumping onto the stacks of boxes we had by the homestead.

"Hey! You need to come help us. We can't get them all in and if Alby sees any of them, we're all dead!" Newt and Thomas got up first to come help but Minho stayed laughing on the floor.

"Minho! Come on, we gotta help the girls!" Newt said kicking him where I did before.

"Newt, we need to get the pigs before they eat all the food you're growing," I said tugging on his arm. He ran with me over to the gardens to help me catch the two dirty pigs. They had already eaten a handful of berries off one bush and were starting to eat at another bush when we ran over.

"You get that one, I'll get this one?" Newt offered while pointing at each pig. I nodded and ran after the pig Newt told me to go for. Unfortunately, when I went after the pig, I scared it off... in the direction of the kitchen.

"(Y/N)! Grab it!" Newt yelled while practically wrestling his pig to the ground. All I had to do was keep that pig away from the kitchen and we would be okay from Alby. I was honestly surprised at how fast this little, fat pig could run since it was out running me.

The pig squealed loudly as it ran into the kitchen. I stopped and took a deep breath knowing we were about to get caught.

"WHO LET THE PIG LOOSE?!" Alby's loud voice screamed out from the kitchen. We were in so much trouble now.

-- now --

"Hey! Everyone stop fighting!" Newt yelled over all of us. We all got quiet but the tension was still thick in the air.

"Let's just all agree on something?" He asked while we all sat down somewhere on the floor. "We never play bloody truth or dare ever again?"

We all mumbled okays and laughed. We sat in silence for a minute feeling completely bored out of our minds.

"What can we do to pass the time?" Teress asked.

"Thomas, truth or dare?" Minho asked.
