The room was filled with a dull silence as the famous couple remained frozen on the sofa. Not a single sound could be heard except from the sound of the pair's steady breathing. Their hands were loosely intertwined as Athena cuddled into Steven's warm chest, both of them trapped in their own thoughts.
Steven's thoughts were corrupted with the thoughts about how lucky he was to be engaged to such an amazing person, who had remained strong despite all of the traumatic events that she had witnessed. He wondered what he did to deserve such an amazing woman, after all, in his mind, he was just Steven Yeun.
However, whenever the Korean male was near the brunette female, she instantly felt at peace. Athena could always be herself, and she would never be judged for it. She always felt safe socially and physically around him, and that was just another reason why she loved him. The brunette knew that Steven wasn't safe around her, and that thought had plagued her thoughts ever since the incident with Travis - the incident where Steven was nearly stabbed because he wanted to protect Athena.

Athena didn't want that for Steven. She wanted Steven to have a happy and joyful life, devoid of stress and worry.
Sensing the worried and distressed aura coming off the brunette female, Steven decided to press a soft kiss to her lips, but Athena pushed herself away, causing a frown to appear on Steven's face as a concerned expression crossed his face.
"We need to break up."
That one statement seemed to freeze time as Steven's eyes widened and he swore that he heard his heart shatter into smithereens. His mind seemed to form a maze of confusion, wondering what he had done wrong and trying to figure out why Athena wanted to end their relationship, which seemed to be going so well, after all, they were engaged.
However, Steven didn't do anything wrong, and Athena didn't want to end their relationship.
"What? Athena-" Steven began while the brunette wriggled out of his embrace and stood up, combing her hair with her hands.
"No!" Athena cut the male off as tears welled up in her eyes, and she knew that she didn't want to break up and that it was the wrong thing to do, but in her mind, she thought that it was the safest option for Steven, "I want you to be happy-."
"I'm happy with you-!" Steven attempted to protest, knowing that Athena wasn't herself at that moment and that she hadn't thought about her decision sensibly.
