"Missed me, bitches?"
As realisation set in, a gasp escaped Steven's mouth as he rushed over to Athena's bedside and tightly gripped her hand, before he pressed numerous, gentle kisses to her forehead while tears welled up in his eyes.
"You're awake, you're awake." Steven murmured in between kisses, "You're actually awake."
"I take that as a yes, you did miss me." Athena murmured with a small smile upon her face, moving her head so that Steven pressed a kiss to her lips.
Though a large smile was plastered across his face, Norman let out a fake groan as he playfully tried to cover his eyes, "Ugh, my virgin eyes."
Athena let out a small scoff, looking over at Norman as she replied, "Virgin? Sure thing, Norman, that's why Sonequa's pregnant with your kid."
"Good point." Norman chuckled, before him and his girlfriend approached the female and wrapped their arms around Athena, Norman muttering, "Welcome back, kiddo."
As the loud and irritating beeping of the heart monitor continued, Athena let out a loud groan, "Can somebody shut that shit up? It's so annoying!"
The female attempted to sit up, but began to grow dizzy, causing her to lay back down with a pout on her lips.
Sonequa chuckled at her friend's behavior, knowing that she was most likely desperate to leave the hospital, "You need to take it easy, Athena."
Nobody knew the full extent of Athena's injuries - well, apart from the doctors. They knew that she had received a lot of scratches and bruises, simply because it was clearly evident on her skin, but that was about it.
"I'll go get a doctor." Steven informed everyone, pressing a single kiss to Athena's forehead before he walked away from the group to retrieve a doctor.
As Steven exited the private room, tears of happiness and relief slid down his cheeks; however, along with those tears, there were also tears of sadness. He didn't know how to tell his fiancé that her best friend died in the car crash. He didn't know how to tell his fiancé that her other best friend committed suicide. He didn't know how his fiancé would react to her best friend's death, and he didn't want to know.
Rubbing his eyes rid of the tears, Steven made his way down the hallways of the hospital in search of a nurse, before he finally lay his eyes on one, quickly rushing up to her.
Noticing the concerned expression on his face, the nurse turned to face Steven and walked towards him, her shoes clicking against the floorboards until she came to a halt in front of him, "Are you okay, sir?"
