Don't worry, I'm not dead yet! Just been busy with schoolwork, big chance I'm gonna pass after all :) I thought I might have to redo the year but nope. So yeah I'm back I guess, but still quite busy, so don't expect fast updates.
I've written this one a while ago, it's kinda personal, it's based on something that happened to me irl (it's not that shocking or special though) and I wasn't sure if I'd publish it or not, but I'll do it anyway~~
With a bit of a sad face, you walked into the office in building 13. You greeted the other guards and your supervisor, and went to get a cup of tea. This morning, you had texted someone you once called your best friend. You texted him that you didn't wanna be friends anymore, and when you were sure he read it, you blocked him and deleted his number. You two would always get into little fights over something stupid, and you so desperately wanted to stay friends, and as he would never apologize afterwards, you were the one doing that. You know you should've gotten rid of him a while ago, but you just couldn't. That person has had a lot of impact on your life, even though it was only for about two years, he was very important to you. After many attempts of meeting up before you came to Nanba Prison, but each one ending with you not coming or leaving early because you just didn't feel comfortable being around him anymore, because of certain things he said, you decided that you had to break the friendship. It wasn't good for you, holding on to someone like that. You felt bad for hurting him, but it had to be done. You hadn't even told him that you got a new job here, so you would never have to see him again.
The only thing you had left of your friendship with him, was a green bouncing ball you two found at a bus stop. You still carried it around with you every day. Even though you hated him, you couldn't let go of this thing. You couldn't throw it away. It was important to you.
You felt in one of the pockets of your pants if it was still there, and thank god it was. You held it tightly in your hand. You wanted to cut that person out of your life entirely, which means you had to say goodbye to this thing as well, but it hurt.
You sighed as you sat down at your desk with your cup of tea. Hoping you could manage to act normal and hide the fact that something was bothering you as you didn't want the others to worry about you, you drank your tea, looking at the list of inmates you had to check on.
'Cell 13... great...' You thought when you saw their names on the list.
'Please just behave and don't make my mood get any worse...'When you finished your tea, you took the list and a pen, and walked out of the room. On your way to the cells, you encountered Seitarou. The two of you have been friends since you started working at Nanba, and seeing him always makes you smile.
"Hey, Seitarou!"
"Hi (y/n)! Are you going to check on the inmates?"
"Yeah. I hope those guys from cell 13 didn't escape again..."
You walked past him to start with your work, but stopped when you heard him calling your name.
"(y/n)?"
"Yes?" You said, turning around to face your friend.
"Are you alright? You seemed a bit... sad, when you walked into the office."
Did he... notice it?
"Oh, don't worry, I'm okay. Just a little tired." You quickly walked away to avoid getting more questions. You had the list and the pen ready as you stood before cell 13.
"Roll call! Number--"
"Ooh, it's the cute female guard!" Number 11, Uno, was at the door before you could even call one of their numbers. Two others, Rock and Nico, showed up as well.
"Too bad Jyugo isn't here to see her." They all did a sad face. You knew what this meant; number 15 escaped the cell again. You looked into the cell, and indeed, he wasn't there.
"Seriously? Did he escape again?!"
"Yep, he left about an hour ago."You sighed and went to search for him, when suddenly...
"Just kidding! He's here! He was just hiding here in the cell."
You walked back to the cell, and all four of them were laughing at you for falling for the joke."Do you think this is funny?! I'm not in the mood for this today!"
"It's just a joke, no need to get so mad about it."
"Shut it, number 15!"
"Oh look, there's your crush!" Uno pointed at Seitarou who walked up to you, probably just coming to check if everything was okay as you were screaming at the inmates.
"Shut up..." You blushed and looked away from the annoying guys. They always teased you with that, though you didn't actually have a crush on Seitarou. Or maybe you did. Just a small crush.
"(y/n), let's go for a little walk, okay?" Seitarou grabbed your arm and led you away from the guys who just ruined your mood even more."Are you sure everything's okay? You usually never scream at them like that." Your blue-haired friend asked as you two were standing on the roof of the building, looking at the ocean.
"...No. I'm not okay." You couldn't lie to him. He was way too kind to lie to.
"What's the matter? Will you please tell me?"
"Alright... I'll tell you."Taking a deep sigh, you told him the story of the guy you used to be friends with, and how and why it ended.
"So... yeah, that's why I'm not that happy right now."
"It sounds like you made the right decision, and I understand that it's hard for you. But... I hope you'll feel better soon. And if there's anything I can do, please let me know, okay?" Seitarou looked at you with a smile.
"Well, actually..." You took the bouncing ball out of your pocket and handed it to him, "Can you please get rid of this thing? I can't do it myself..."
"Why can't you do it yourself?"
"It's the only thing I have left of my friendship with that guy. I want to cut him out of my life completely, so I gotta get rid of this thing too. But I... I just can't do it..."
"I see," He looked at the bouncing ball in his hand, then at the ocean, then at you, "Should I throw it into the water?"
"Yes, please, so I could never see it again."
"Are you sure you wanna get ri--"
"JUST THROW IT!"
Seitarou did as you said, and both of you stared at the little green ball going down into the water to never be seen again. You felt a few tears rolling down your cheeks. It was only a bouncing ball, such a simple little thing, but it held many memories for you.
"Ow, (y/n), don't cry! You'll make me cry too, you know?"
You were pulled into a hug, and that's the one thing you needed the most right now.
"Seitarou? C...Can you do one more thing for me?"
"Of course! What is it?"
"...Please be my new best friend."
Seitarou broke the hug and seemed a bit confused.
"But... I thought we were best friends already..."
"What? Really?"
"Yes. But I guess we could... you know, be more than best friends?" He nervously looked to the side, and you swear you saw a little blush on his face.
You didn't know if he was trying to confess his feelings to you, if he even did have any romantic feelings for you, that is, or if he simply wanted to be something like 'super best friends'. But that didn't matter. You could start with the latter and maybe, someday, you two could be an actual 'couple'.
"Like super best friends? That sounds great!" You immediately felt a lot happier, and gave him a big hug. You knew for sure that this guy right here would be a much better 'super' best friend than that other person. You hoped that soon, you wouldn't even be able to remember him...Have you ever just felt super uncomfortable at mcdonalds? Cuz I have. It was during the last time I met up with that 'friend'. I still don't understand why I felt so uncomfortable around him, but oh well, it's all over now.
Anyway, I really hope to be back soon with some more oneshots, cuz I've been getting a lot of new ideas lately. Bye~
