"What? What Minho!" I yelled, shushed me instantly.
"We need to go! Now!" There was slight panic in his voice.
"We haven't been to the greivers yet though?" I didn't understand why we needed to leave so soon. Suddenly, Minho grabbed my shirt with both hands and clenched fists.
"Listen to me shuck face! If we don't leave now, the greivers will come to us!" It was the middle of the day? Why would they be out?
"Minho, I recon it's worth the risk. It's now or never because with our luck, they won't be there tomorrow. He huffed and scanned the area.
"Alright. But we have to be QUICK!" He ran ahed of me and turned the corner. He didn't have anything to worry about. Did he? I quickly followed him and it didn't take much longer until we reached section 8. Three legs and a body from one of the greivers stuck out of the wall. A head of another was squashed between the walls a little further up, guts splattered on the brick... Disgusting. "There's a light in there." I peeked into the small gap forced by the metallic legs of the greivers.
"Sorry, but that's rank." I stepped back. He glared at me.
"We could be back at The Glade right now! We are risking our lives and YOU want to go back when YOU were the one who made us stay." His voice raised slightly and I knew that if we went back, he wouldn't even look at me.
"Let's just pull it out and get it over with then." I pushed past him. He was getting on my nerves. Lately Minho had gotten much more pushy and nobody knew why. I grabbed the greiver leg and yanked it out of the wall. A loud screeching sound erupted as the metal scratched against the stone. "Help me then!" I groaned, sweat dripping down my forehead. He rushed over and began helping me. The leg was stuck but we started pulling harder. It fell out and I landed on my back because of the sudden and unexpected action. Minho helped me up and I noticed the red light on the far end of the leg. "What the hell is this?" I asked.
"Not a clue but let's take it back, we got what we came here for and I don't wanna spend much longer in here." Minho was hiding something. I could tell. "We need to hurry." His voice was very forceful as he started running back towards The Glade. We got halfway back and I was getting really tired.
"Minho, I need to stop." I breathed.
"Don't stop." He said, not looking back. "Just run. Not much further." It really annoyed me when people didn't listen. We got back and as I crossed the doors of the Maze, I collapsed into the dirt, panting for breath.
"Are you okay?" Adam said, as he passed carrying a basket full of fresh fruit towards the canteen.
"Shuck off Adam." I panted and gave him a snarl. He didn't look back at me, he knew he hadn't made a good impression the night before. Jade ran over and slid next to me.
"Are you okay?!" She asked frantically.
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine." I reassured her. She was so cute when she was worried. Was that a bad thing? She leaned round me and gave me a big hug. I kissed her ear and he held me tighter. We just hugged in the floor for ages. I noticed Minho walking over from the homestead, to the hall. "Come on." I said standing up, once I got my breath back.
"Where are we going?" I didn't answer, just pulled her in his direction. I swung the door open and I saw Newt, Hannah, Gally, Winston, Minho and Alby. They were examining the light source that we pulled from the greiver earlier.
"So NOW he appears." Gally said, throwing his hands in the air.
"What?" I looked at Minho, who was looking at Alby.
"Thomas... I hope you had a good night sleep last night. Because tonight, I don't think any of us will." Alby told me, colder than he'd ever spoken before.
