Newt showed me around his and ALL of the other boys' home. He said this place was called 'The Glade' and that hardly any of the boys here had ever seen a girl before. He explained the rules to me and took me for a walk through the forest until we found a small creek, deep in the middle. It was surrounded by trees but the sun sneaked through the leaves at just the right angles, catching the glistening light from the pure water.

"This is beautiful." I said.

"I like to come here when I'm upset, or I just have a lot on my mind. I take care of it." Newt replied. This seemed like the exact place that suited his nature. He was kind and sweet and any place like this deserved someone as lovely as him looking after it. After about an hour of sitting and getting to know each other a little better, we began to head back to The Glade as it was getting dark. I noticed a large fire in the distance. "Looks like the party has begun! And without us!" He yelled the second part and grabbed my hand. "Hurry!" He pulled me really hard while running towards the fire in the middle of The Glade. A tall boy with eyebrows that I recognised approached us.

"Alright Newt!" He gave him a high five. "So where've you been all afternoon eh? Sneaking off with the new greenie?" He raised his oddly thin eyebrows which made me giggle inside.

"No not exactly Gally, I've been showing her around."

"Oh well," he turned to me. "I'm Gally, the keeper of the builders. What about you?" I didn't know what to say, I still didn't remember my name or anything else for that matter.

"Uh... I don't really know..." Was all that came out. Gally seemed to be quite handsome. He was very muscular, which is probably why he's the head builder.

"Don't worry, it'l come back soon." He smiled and walked off into a large white circle that had been painted into the dirt. "Alright, who's next!" He shouted. Newt took me over to loads of different groups of people and introduced me to them. Finally he took me to meet Alby. He was in charge of The Glade itself.

"Hey, I'm Alby." He said with a large grin on his face. "Welcome to The Glade, greenie." We sat around the fire all night. People talked and Gally did a lot of wrestling in the circle. A boy who I'd taken quite a liking to, Thomas, was in the circle with Gally. He wasn't doing too good. Gally was pushing Thomas and he was on the verge of leaving the circle, meaning he would lose. But at the last second, Thomas tripped Gally and he face planted the dirt. I couldn't help but laugh. His victory was short lived after Gally kicked Thomas' ankles and he fell and hit his head on a stone. I didn't want to watch anymore. For some reason I felt like I didn't fit in. I went to the lookout tower and climbed to the top. Ever since I met Newt, my head had been filled with all kinds of thoughts but I could never piece them together. I lit a torch and lay down on a blanket. I just stared at the stars until the large fire was put out. All the boys went to their beds and I could feel my eyes getting heavy once again. I heard creaking coming from the ladder.

"Hello? Is anyone up here?" A voice called.

"Yes, it's just me." I replied. I knew who it was. It was Chuck, the youngest Glader. He was really sweet and had a huge heart, I felt like I trusted him almost instantly. He lifted the door to get onto the lookout.

"Hey Chuck." I simply said, whilst still looking up at the stars. He lay down next to me.

"Thomas was looking for you before. He said he had something to ask you." I gave him a confused look.

"What do you mean? Why?"

"I dunno? He just wanted to talk to you. Newt and all the others have gone to bed, Thomas is still awake though. Do you want me to go and get him?" I liked Thomas. He was polite and easy to talk to. To be honest, all the boys were, but I felt this certain 'click' with Thomas that I didn't understand.

"Yeah, that at would be good. Thanks Chuck." I patted his curly head as he got up and left. I think I fell asleep while waiting for Thomas, the sound of the door woke me up.

"Good evening ma'm. So how's the new greenie doing so far?" I chuckled.

"Okay I guess. My head is just all over the place. I don't really feel like I fit in..." My voice trailed off. Thomas lay down beside me where Chuck was before. We both looked up at the stars.

"I mean, it makes sense? You being the only girl and all,"

"No, that's not what I mean." I cut him off. "Why are we here?" There was a long silence.

"I don't know..." The subject was dropped after that and we didn't talk for much more. Until I broke the silence. "So, how long have you been here?"

Thomas smiled. "I was the last greenie."

"Really?" I sat up.

"Yeah it's been about a month now. What do you think of it here?"

"You know what? I think I like this place." I smiled and locked eyes with Thomas. He returned my smile. The moonlight was bright and caught the shine from his eyes perfectly. I leaned in and he did the same. Before I knew it, our lips attached. We kissed. His lips were soft and so was the kiss. It was passionate but light at the same time. I pulled away and held his face. Thomas just smiled.

He stood up and held the door open. "You coming?"

"No, I think I'll stay up here." He took a few steps down the ladder and as he was about to close the door I stopped him. "Thomas?" He looked at me. "Thank you." I simply said. I couldn't see him but I could tell he was smiling. He left and I lay back down. It didn't take me long to fall asleep under the stars.
