"Goodbye! Take care! We'll miss you!"
Amihan leaned on the ledge as the aircraft started to fly, waving goodbye to their precious diwanis. She and Pirena both. She wrung her hands nervously at the thought of leaving them without either of her sisters and brother-in-law watching out. This terrified the mother in her.
Both diwanis were kind, good, considerate, and well-behaved. But, they were also playful, especially her daughter. She's now having doubts if it was a good decision to come here at the voyage. Although Mira could placate her cousin, give rational reasons, Lira's too headstrong to listen once an idea came.
Bathala, if she didn't have proof of birth pains, she would surely question if Lira's really her daughter because this particular trait of her daughter's was the same as Danaya's. Genetics was scary.
She was so absorbed in her thoughts that she didn't notice her brother-in-law trying to get her attention, until he slapped her shoulder. She jumped! She turned around and stared at the culprit incredulously. "Why did you do that?!"
He didn't faze. "Because you were not listening to me, your majesty."
She rubbed her unfortunate shoulder, trying to ease the pain. She grumbled her protest. She turned to Pirena, who was holding hands with her husband, and shot a look at her conveying a why-didn't-you-stop-him?, but her sister only shrugged.
"Look, I know you and Pirena are worried about our daughters, and it is within reason. After all, they always get themselves in trouble when we're not looking. But, you both have to trust them. I am sure they're both fine. Besides, they have Ades and a palace-full of damas and soldiers looking out after them who are in love with them. They're in capable hands."
She shared a look with Pirena, and she knew they're both feeling guilty at Barloc's words.
"Do you understand now, Queen Amihan?"
She let out a weak smile. "Yes."
"And you, my lovely wife?" She tried to stop the laugh when she heard the teasing tone Barloc used at her sister.
Pirena rolled her eyes and scoffed, before turning her head away from Barloc. "You don't have to tell me twice."
She saw Barloc grin widely, and that's her cue to leave. She really didn't want to witness her sister and brother-in-laws lovey-dovey antics. Bathala knows she and the rest have witnessed enough of them already.
"You know, we can finally have that alone time we always talked about."
"What are you talking about? We're here on business."
"Yes, but that doesn't mean we couldn't enjoy the view."
"What view? It's Carcero!"
Behind her, their voices lingered until it faded from the distance.

She leaned on her hands as she felt the wind breeze around her. She sighed contently. It always gave her a pleasant feeling every time she's up on the air. Her eyes wandered around her, as well as the view below. At the horizon, she could make out a silhouette of a palace walls made of bricks. A mixture of brown and gold shining even in the setting sun.
Sapiro.
We must be nearing Carcero if I can see their kingdom.
A faded memory broke out to the forefront of her mind before she squashed it out and buried it deep once again.
