"For an all powerful legendary Pokemon he sure takes his sweet time..." You mutter under your breath as you scan the desolate sidewalks of the big city you were currently visiting on your journey. You had been talking to a close friend you hadn't seen since the day you started off from your small town in the middle of nowhere, and before you knew it the sun had gone down and the clock struck midnight. You left, but barely managed to get a quarter of the way back to your hotel room when the sketchy night life finally freaked you out enough to make you call Yvetal. He was angry, too. He had been worried because you hadn't called and had already been heading out the door to look for you.

He had told you earlier that he was 'taking a day off' before unceremoniously dumping himself back on the couch. You couldn't really blame him though, the summer heat was brutal and the room was air conditioned and much more preferable than trotting around and getting errands done. So you had gone out to get some snacks and to see when the gym leader of the town was going to be back from wherever he was training, before running into your friend. And now, you were here. Trying to make yourself seem as small as possible under the awning of a long closed shop. Your heart flutter in fear any time you think you hear voices. This city was notorious for being dangerous at night. You really should have brought one of your other pokemon with you, but you had let them all enjoy the cold room instead.

Suddenly, a plastic soda bottle slaps to the ground by your feet and you squeak as it slides harmlessly by your toes. "Eh?" You hear, and swivel your head around, heart dropping into your stomach. That wasn't Yvetal. Why hadn't you stayed quiet? They would've passed you by without noticing if you hadn't made a noise. Now a group of around five shady looking young men are peering in your direction. When one of them makes out your silhouette against the shop windows, he sends you a smile that makes you want to start running already. "What are you doing out here so late at night?"

"W-waiting for someone..." You murmur and pull some of your hair over your face as best you can, doing everything possible to avoid eye contact. You begin walking away from them, ahead of them, trying ignore the comments they were obviously making under their breath. Their footsteps pick up the pace. As do yours. Theirs again. Yours. Pretty soon you're jogging, and they're jogging to catch up and your head is frozen with fear. You feel one of them closing in, and that's when you break out into a run. You don't know what they want, but if it was anything good they would've just called out and asked you, not followed you. "Why are you following m-oof!"

You wheel around the corner as you scream behind you and slam into another person. Just the person you want to see, in fact. Tears prick your eyes as you throw your arms around Yvetal and attempt to calm down. He doesn't have any time to ask you whats wrong before the group of men turns the corner too. That's when Yvetal puts two and two together.

And flies into a blind rage.

One fist holds you close, almost too close while the other one slams into the building next to you, shattering the smooth surface as chunks of clay and shale scatter and fall to the ground. His eyes narrow, almost glowing as he glares the men down, and consequently, the men begin scrambling away, screaming and running for their lives from your very intimidating boyfriend. It all happens in a matter of a couple seconds, but you don't think you'll ever forget how cool he was right then.

Yvetal pulls you away from the crushed bricks, but you don't care about minor destruction of property right now. You'd go pay for it tomorrow. He gets you a total of maybe ten feet before your legs stop working, adrenaline officially worn off. So instead of forcing you to move, he sits on the ground and pulls you into a hug on top of him. You can feel the waterworks open, and within milliseconds your sobbing openly on his chest. His grip around you tightens and anger flares up inside him again. "I should go after those punks. Teach them a lesson." You grip his clothes and shake your head, not wanting this to escalate any further.

He sighs and rubs your back comfortingly. "Sorry. That was scary right? I'm sorry." His fingers weave through your hair  gently and carefully as you cling to him, willing yourself to stop crying. Hysterics aren't helping and your tired and you just really really want to get back to the room with Yvetal and sleep the whole thing off. "U-uh, when we get home I'll make you some tea- or something and you can take a cool bath- you like those, right? Right? And we have cookie mix we haven't used and we can sleep in as late as you want tomorrow, so don't cry anymore, alright? I'm here."

It's so obvious that he's not used to being this comforting and kind, but he's trying so hard for you. You feel so grateful, and this time it's easy for you to suck up your tears and nod your head. You give him a little smile that has him sighing in relief and helping you to your feet- a terribly hard challenge that has Yvetal giving up in five seconds in favor of picking you up in his arms. You grab onto his clothes and nestle against his body. "Thank's Yvetal."

His arms tighten around you in response, and you settle for the walk back home. Or maybe, you were already there. He always had felt like home to you.
