You shudder in the early morning air, the cool breeze of autumn tickling your skin and raising goosebumps all over your body. It wasn't an opportune day to be standing by the seaside, waiting for the train to come pick up it's passengers- which, if it's any indication of how insane you are to be going out this early in the frigid morning, only consists of you and your beloved partner Dustox. Glancing at the toxic pokemon that towers over you, you aren't surprised to find out that he's not one for cold. He stares in silence and looks like he's about to pass out from exhaustion. Bugs really aren't made for low temperatures.
"You don't have to stand out here with me, Dustox, really!" You insist, and he half opens a single tired eye to peer at you. "Just go back inside. I'll come get you when the train comes, it's not that big of a deal!" You pull your thin sweater tighter around your body and shiver once more. The first thing you were doing when you reached your destination was heading to the nearest clothing store and buying yourself an actual coat made for actual cold. 'It'll keep you warm' your foot. Your parents had lied when they made you pack this all those months ago, this felt little more than a shirt.
Closing his eyes and letting out a half sigh, half grunt, he knocks into your shoulder lightly. "It's fine." You almost whimper when the brief moment of contact is over, the small amount of warmth that he provided is gone in an instant and it leaves you yearning to lean into his touch again. But no, you're not one to do something so embarrassing and you could never ask him to hold you, you'd be mortified. You fidget as these things tumble around in your head, and your movements don't go unnoticed by the man next to you. Reaching out to touch your arm, his barely open eyes widen a little. "You're cold. You should go inside."
Your face heats up a bit at his sudden touch and you giggle a little. "But if I leave you out here, you might fall asleep on me. I can't handle a missed train and a sick boyfriend!" Your playful attitude does nothing to mask the tremble in your voice. He doesn't let go of your arm, seemingly stuck between arguing that you go back inside knowing that you're exactly right and there is a rather large chance that you will come out in a half hour to see the train leaving the station and him asleep on the ground. "I guess we're both going to have to brave the weather then, haha!"
He doesn't say anything again, and while that is usually uncharacteristic of your ever sarcastic Dustox, it's very normal for him when he has to deal with dropping temperatures so you aren't too worried about his state of being. It's only when his grip shifts from your arm to your shoulder that you stop scanning the rails for the train and instead refocus on his face. "What's up Dus...tox..."
His face shows barely a sign of change as he pulls you towards him. The only depiction of what he's about to do lies in the slight reddening of his cheeks as your body collides with his own. Before you can even register what's happening, he lifts the cloak that he uses as a jacket and buries you in his embrace. Wrapping the cloak-turned-blanket back around in front of you, he mumbles something that you can't quite hear, but you assume them to be words of concern for your well being.
You must have looked ridiculous to anyone who might have walked by that early in the morning- what seemed to be a normal guy from the back, with an extra head just barely peeking out of the collar of his shirt. But right now, you can't think of anything besides how fast your heart is pounding in your chest. Dustox rests his head on the top of yours, wrapping an arm fully around your waist and leaning into your body for heat that is now abundant. You hear him speak, but you don't quite process exactly what he's trying to say. When he clears his throat, you startle. "H-Huh? What?"
"I said, are you warm enough now? Is this okay?" You manage to stutter out a soft affirmative and nod your head gently, trying to decide if you should be utterly mortified or extremely happy. You quickly decide that on occasion, a mix between the two emotions might be perfectly fine. You honestly don't feel awkward that your heart is pounding ten times harder then it usually does, because you can feel his stampeding pulse through your back. Despite how chilly it is outside, there's no place you'd rather be.
Sometimes Dustox could turn even the coldest places into the warmest ones.
