"You're unneeded. Unessential to me now. There are people much stronger then you."

A deep, long instilled fear stirred your stomach into turmoil and clenched at your heart with iron fingers.

"Farewell, ______. Don't bother coming after me."

Your legs trembled and the world began to tilt at an abnormal degree. You felt your calve muscles give out, and the arm of your companion slipped under yours just in time to support your weight. "You mustn't show that craven weakness, _______."

You glance up at Arbok, a wry smile on his face as he sets you back on your now sturdier feet. Silently you slip your hand in his and turn back to the boy, about your age, who had challenged you to a battle on the route you were traveling.

Next you turned to the pokemon by his side. A tall, lean Seviper with the same 'condition' as Arbok. Said man had his hands in his pockets and sent you a smirk of recognition. Of course, you knew him too. At one point, he had been yours.

"So, what are you going to do? Technically, I'm human now. You have no right to make me stay."

As soon as the male trainer (who, from the looks of it, and the snobbish air in his voice, was most likely a rich boy) finished his never ending battle proposal, Seviper gave a harsh grin and extended his hand to your new previously snake-like pokemon.

Arbok knew too, judging by your reaction, that this was your 'loyal companion' from the earlier days of your life. He knew that even after all the two of you had been through, the power thirsty Seviper had left you alone and crying five years prior to this encounter.

And then you had found him. A stubborn, strong willed Arbok that acknowledged your hidden strength and wanted with all of his heart to become your Pokemon. And so, despite knowing full well that this snake could also change, you took him in. You grew, not only as a trainer, but as a person as well with his silent encouragement.

Even when the PokeHuman epidemic affected Arbok and you broke down, he promised never to leave you. Not like him.

Arbok took the other Pokemon's hand, holding back a force that would have broken the treacherous man's appendage if released. Seviper tried to pull back his hand, but Arbok held fast.

"We're going to beat you. I can promise that much."

Seviper's face morphed from shock to amusement. A low chuckle arose from his throat as he peered at the taller man. "And what can you do with her? She's useless. Barely able to obtain what little gym badges she has. I couldn't remember the last time we won before I left her."

Arbok simply grinned and tightened his fingers around yours as you quietly accepted the battle. This would be your chance to move on. You had a wonderful life with an amazing boyfriend and all the love you could ever wish for. You were finally ready to get over him.

And an anger filled Arbok certainly gave you an advantage. You had to stop the match early, because to Seviper's terror, the rage induced male was seconds away from ending his life. You had become strong. You had become dangerous.

"And don't" Arbok spit the words out at the Pokemon. "Even think about trying to switch back to her. She only needs me." With one last glare in the boy's direction, Arbok latched strong fingers around your wrist and yanked you off down the road, cussing under his breath.

"You're mine, ________. He won't hurt you again. He can't."

You simply nodded, grateful tears streaming down your face and clung onto his arm for dear life.
