She remembers everything, but she never understood what drove her to actually leave and take her other self's place when she died. Her new grandfather never questioned how her cancer miraculously went into remission or what she had to go to speech therapy for all of a sudden. She was no baby with a young brain that could easily adapt, she did though -- slowly but thoroughly. About 15 years later, and Kory feels more real than she ever has, but she still feels conflicted and guilty. The only thing that can even compete with these feelings is the sheer terror that she might have to go back.
