*Part 2/5*
Storm Sniper, that was the name you went by from the moment you were captured and brainwashed.
A killing machine, that's what you were every single day that you were taken out of cryofreeze. Slowly but surely, you forgot who you were, where you came from, and who you once had known.
"Sniper! Get up!" A voice barked in Russian and you sat up, feeling the immense fatigue surge through your body. You had to fight not to fall right back asleep. HYDRA wasn't letting you sleep longer than 4 hours a night and it was starting to have an effect on you.
But you couldn't disobey. They were the good guys and they were doing everything they could to make the world a better place. You were just another soldier in their war.
You were a lone wolf. You liked working on your own since you didn't have to worry about anyone else but yourself. You had had a couple of partners during your time with the Russian organisation, but they realised after a while that you worked better on your own. None of the people you worked with were able to keep up with your immense skill set and most of them got killed in combat.
You had killed many people, but you weren't merciless. A lot of people thought you killed whomever got in your way, but that wasn't true in the slightest. You only killed the targets that had been assigned to you by HYDRA. You had never once hurt an innocent civilian, unlike many thought.
You were escorted out of your cell and taken to the interrogation room. You sat down in the cold, metal chair and goosebumps formed on your skin. The loose, worn down shirt you were wearing didn't provide much warmth against the harsh cold of the Russian highlands. You didn't know for sure where you were kept, but it was in the mountains because that was your view from your cell. It only had a tiny crack in the wall but you looked through it whenever you had the chance.
"So," Sokolov stated as he sat down across from you. "Mission report, January 30th," he said.
"Both targets are eliminated. No civilian casualties," You answered.
"Did you leave behind any traces?" Sokolov continued.
"Not that I know of," You replied nonchalantly.
"That's not an answer," He grumbled, moving to rise to his feet.
"No, sir. I left no traces," You stated firmly and he sat down, nodding approvingly.
"Very well. You may go." He turned to the soldier behind him. "Put her in cryofreeze. We won't need her for a while." The young man nodded quickly and moved to grab your arm.
"I can walk on my own, thank you very much." You ripped your arm away from him and exited the room. You walked down the endless corridors until you reached the blue door that led to the room where your cryo-freezer was stored.
The doctors present in the room barely looked up when you entered. The freezer was opened and you stepped in. The syringe with blue liquid was injected into your bloodstream. You felt your eyelids become heavy and you looked forward to spending the next couple of weeks asleep. The freezer was closed and a rush of freezing cold air surrounded you. Your fingers and toes froze first before the rest of your limbs followed. The familiar clenching feeling in your chest appeared before your unconsciousness took over and the pain left. All you knew next was darkness.

"Miss? Miss L/N, can you hear me?" A voice called and your eyes creaked open. You were met with a bright light that blinded you. You propped yourself up on your elbows and a hand supported you behind your back. You flinched at the sudden touch and you opened your eyes fully. A young woman was standing by your bedside.
"Where am I?" You asked in Russian, before realising that the woman had spoken English to you. "Where am I?" You repeated.
"You're in SHIELD's hospital. Do you remember anything?" The woman asked while writing some things on a clipboard.
"SHIELD?" You asked. "Why am I at a SHIELD facility?" You fully sat up and examined your surroundings. Several machines were hooked to your body and they were beeping every once in a while. You recalled the name she gave you when you first woke up. "How did you call me?"
"Your name is Y/N L/N," The woman said.
You repeatedly shook your head from side to side. "No, it's not. It can't be." Painful surges started tormenting your brain as slivers of memories flashed by your eyes. You mainly saw two guys. One had blond hair, the other brown. One was tall, the other shorter. Their names were a mystery to you.
"Do you know what year it is, Y/N?" The woman continued.
"Yes, it's... it's nineteen... nineteen something..." You mumbled, trying to recall the last mission report.
"It's 2011. You've been asleep for the past forty years," The woman said.
"2011?" You questioned and she nodded. "Where am I?"
"New York City," She answered. "How are you feeling?"
You chuckled lightly. "Confused. Rested. My head hurts."
"That's all very normal. We've been working on getting HYDRA out of your head," She said.
"Why would you do that?" You asked softly.
"HYDRA is not good. They murdered hundreds upon thousands innocent people that deserved way better," She answered.
"But I was always told not to kill any innocent people..." You whispered almost inaudibly.
"You have never killed innocent people. You were there just to kill the targets." She paused, clearly thinking about what to say next. "They sent troops after you to clean the traces that you left behind. Any people that saw you were ruthlessly murdered."
A knock on the door was heard. "Come in," The woman called and the door opened. A dark-skinned man entered. He wore a long, black coat and an eyepatch covered his left eye.
"Miss L/N, you're awake," He said.
"Who are you?" You asked sceptically, backing away in your bed as he came closer.
"My name is Nick Fury. I'm the director of SHIELD," He said calmly, stopping in his tracks. "I'm here to talk to you about the Avengers Initiative."
