Oh my. This first episode has brought me to tears, and propelled me to speak in a much more reformed manner.
First, let us talk about the animation. In this thrid installment of black butler, it appears that no changes were made in the character look, besides the obvious improvement of quality. Ciel's hair, does have a more grey look to it now. In the first season, I always swore it was blue. Transition slides are well done, and hardly notceable. The actions run smoothly, and aren't chppy and awkward. And so, I would say the animation's very high end, and I am anticipating the next episode.
Book of Circus feels exactly like the first season, thank god. Sebastian starts off his day, explaining a Phantomhive butler's duties, and slides for Morning, Afternoon, and Night are shown. Brilliant work. The episode appears to be less mysterious until halfway through, so enjoy a nice and relaxing watch until that point.
For the voices, I am happy to inform that none were changed! (That I know of). Ono Daisuke does a perfect job at relaying Sebastian's snooty attitude (yes, I think he is very uppity and high class XD Love him, but broooo. Not everyone's as perfect as a demon). Sebastian's voice is also the perfect pitch. Not too high, not to low, and very soothing--silky almost. Way to go, Ono Daisuke! With Ciel's voice, Sakamoto Maaya is doing a lovely job at Ciel's boyish-ness. I always loved her voice, and fell in love with Ciel because of it. I'd say it changed slightly, though. But it's a good change. Kaji Yuki is as cute as ever! The perfect Finny voice. It gives off the tones of being innocent, naive, and adorable all at the same time. There's my voice acting god for ya.
For my side comments, I was surprised at my ability to keep my inner fangirl down (there was a very good scene for fujoshis). It was probably because I've seen a British show, Downton Abbey, and am used to watching what a regular butler does for his English master. They really do iron newspapers...Ah, the high class. Love em, dontcha? *cough* Excuse me. Ciel's an...interesting dancer as always. He still has a sweet tooth as well. I was always curious about how he could crave so many sweets. Though, I like my cake too :3 Candy, not so much. Our beautiful Meyrin is very scatterbrained, indeed. Finny still has his inhuman strength, and Bard is about as dumb as they come. Very troublesome servants.
And last, but not least, Sebastian says his key phrase! "I am but one hell of a butler."
