When I first started watching this episode, I was entranced by the beautiful, yet simple art. I immediately fell in love with the two main males (of course). Apparently humans on Earth (Terrans), and humans on Mars (Martians?) have been at a standstill for the past 15 years. Supposedly, the Martians destroyed part of Earth in a war between them. Military training is a part of the regular curriculum taught to mere high school children. I won't head too deep, but that's the base plot of what I got from the episode. More is yet to be revealed.

However, I do have to say one thing--OHMYGLOB!!!!! Sawano Hiroyuki and Kajiura Yuki are working on an anime TOGETHER! If you don't know who these two are, prepare for a quick lesson! First of all, Kajiura made the music for Black Butler, Pandora Hearts, .//hack, SAO, and Tsubasa Chronicle (amongst others). Second, Sawano made the music for Shingeki no Kyojin, Blue Exorcist, and Guilty Crown (amongst others). Third, these two are music GODS. I'm completely in love with their composing skills. I only realized that they were in charge of the music when the fighting started XD

This anime truly exceeded my expectations! It was like a movie in a 25 minutes episode! I haven't been this happy with a mech's 1st episode since Captain Earth (but that's another story). And who can't love an anime with an opening featuring Kalafina ("heavenly blue" by Kalafina)?

In any case, I am very pleased with this summer pick :3 If you like mechs, or great music, or good animation--actually no. I'm not gonna persuade you to watch it. Just do. You'll like it, promise~ And if you don't like the anime, then POOOOOOO. Guess you'll have to find something else to watch~ (But this one's seriously great).

So that's my review, and I'm out~
