Let's get right into it, shall we?

Where do I watch this?: Hulu

First thoughts about the OP: I decided to watch this before I even watched the first episode to get a feel for the show. While the music is pleasant, has a catchy tune, and makes me wanna bop to the beat, something tells me that the vibe happening here is a far cry from the actual show. The OP takes you through a day where two guys are acting like kids, just enjoying themselves. I'm assuming they're the main characters, and this show is focused more on the white haired dude with the cat while the blue eyes guy is the magical and powerful one?

Predictions @ 3:18: The intro to this show gives a bit of backstory about the famed Book of Vanitas, why it exists, and what it does. I'm gonna say right now that the blue eyes guy is modern day Vanitas. He adopted the name. He used to be a regular vampire who went searching for the book because he has a vendetta against the entire vampire race and wishes to purge them from the world, so he opens the book, his eyes get taken over, and viola! Vampire-killing machine!

In Conclusion: My initial guess at the 3 minute mark was horribly off! I do have to say that the character designs are absolutely lovely and I would not expect any less from Mochizuki. The story is slightly confusing to follow. I'm not really clear on the character motivations and everything, but if I'm not playing ring around the rosie with a show titled "The Case Study of..." then I don't want it! I do think the close up shots make Vanitas look "cooler" than he actually is. Reminds me of Dazai without the deathwish. This whole first episode, in general, reminds me of a strange mix between Dr. Ramune -Mysterious Disease Specialist-, Bungou Stray Dogs, and Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina. Anyone else feel the same?

First thoughts about the ED: Holy moly this song is beautiful and resonates in a way I can't exactly describe. It's so deeply and inherently sad. It's in complete contrast from the OP. There's not much to sad about the animation, but Noe's last line and the still shot in the ED make me think Vanitas and Noe are gonna become enemies at some point. I surely hope not, but I'm fearing that might be the case.
