The ride going back to the hospital was shorter, but finding a place to park was harder than earlier. As the day grew sometimes, people found their way to the hospital. Sometimes for a few short minor things, I had realized that as a kid. More of the serious stuff took place at night, it left the staff to run around crazy.
There was a time when my mother had no choice but to watch me at one point, it was raining badly that night. It was a damn hurricane watch, so bad the lights had flickered more than once. I could recall the absolute chaos that went on, from accidents due to the storm and just other people dealing with their own shit. Their own serious shit, may I add. But once everything was under control, and morning started to take place- a lot of people showed up. And that's when I realized how chilling it was, more deaths and serious cases happened at night. But it was less people in the hospital. That only came about in the day time, when everyone needed something about less serious things. And that's just one of the many reasons why I hated coming here.
Zayn finally parked the car a few feet away from the entrance, taking note of the older couple leaving. He waited until they backed away, just before taking their parking space. We gathered our stuff quietly. Getting out and walking inside, together. It didn't take us long to get ready, just a quick shower to wash the evidence of our relationship off. He scrubbed my back while I used my hands to lather soap on his chest.
I had thought about grabbing his hand for comfort, but I realized now wasn't the best time. He was about to face that detective, the same one that harassed me after the gala. Now he was doing the same thing to Erica, and she wasn't even in the hospital more than forty-eight hours. And what made it weirder is the fact he was dealing with smaller cases, since he was a homicide detective. The job did consist of him asking questions, but that was only relevant if a murder took place. And far as I knew, there was no deaths going around. Thank god. It just made me wonder the real reason he was coming around, I couldn't help but to think if it really is because of Zayn. I had an idea it may have just been that, but it felt like it was too good to be true.
"Did you do something?" I asked him the moment the elevators closed, giving us a brief second of privacy.
I could feel him shift uncomfortably, burning a whole practically in the side of my face. A lot of people didn't understood why I did that, ask questions randomly. It's something I've done for as long as I could remember, I had no idea why. So, if someone was to ask then I wouldn't have an answer. That was just my personality, sometimes I can be way too blunt. I just wanted to keep it at a minimum around Zayn, because he could be just as- eye opening.
"I've done a lot of things in my life, you and I both know that." He reminded me, even when I wanted to forget. It's not that I was ashamed, I just couldn't picture the idea. I've seen him do things, but never out of spite.
Whenever he retaliated, it was always based on my defense. If I was put into danger, so technically I've never seen what he could do. But the aftermath has been in my view, just like the day I came back from classes and see him getting rid of good furniture that was stained. With someone's blood. But I wasn't here so, I have no idea of knowing what happened.
