After everything Ben had to leave due to a important job at his dad's motor shop, so I wouldn't be hearing from him the rest of the night.
I took the time to let Erica and Mckenzie stay the night as way to have girl time, also giving them a bit of a chance to get to know each other more. It was fine, until Mckenzie felt the need to bring up that situation I was starting to forget.
"Wait, there's a situation? That I don't know about?" Erica raised her perfectly shaped eyebrows, turning and looking at me.
My shoulders lifted up, shrugging it off as nothing. "It wasn't a situation, I just realized how much I overreacted about the whole thing."I laughed, realizing how stupid it sounded. There was no possible way I was attending, let along ever seeing that guy again.
"It didn't seem that way a few hours ago, I am pretty sure that she's lying." Mckenzie pointed out, reaching over and snatching a few bits of candy for herself.
Erica gaze switched between me and Mckenzie before resting, with a distant smile on her face. "That's fine, but let me tell you why your brother is an asshole." She changed the subject, I looked at her for a moment.
As kids we would always have this little connection between us, being able to talk silently just by giving each other a specific look. Instantly we knew what the other was thinking, without even having to vocalize it.
At this moment, it was that time we picked up on that communication. I was never sure exactly what she said, but I was close to it at times. Somewhere among the lines, she is saying 'I want that story but I'll let it go for now' and I'm replying 'I owe you one'.
"What did he even do?" I fell back, turning down the volume and listening fully.
Mckenzie's attention seemed to be elsewhere, I don't think she didn't care. She just wasn't half interested, doesn't mean she wasn't listening.
"He's also screwing Destine Arnold, I don't have problems with any guy doing anything. I mean just don't lie about it, we aren't together and he doesn't owe me anything." She admitted. "But that doesn't mean screw someone that I hate, especially since I would never go and screw Josh." She exclaimed.
I knew what she meant, it was the principle of the matter. You can do as you please, as long as it is based on honest. Whatever relationship you have with anyone, there needs to be loyalty.
"That's gross, especially Destine of all people." I frowned up my face, remembering the bad memories I've had with that girl myself.
"I think men are nothing but-" Before Mckenzie could even speak, a loud thud came from the other side of the wall, along with a series of guitar riffs and drums.
My eyes widen at how loud their stereo system had to be, seeing as the wall started to vibrate. It lasted like that for a few moments until a loud screech came along.
"Is your neighbor Ozzy Osborne? Good lord, it's louder than how I play Lauryn Hill in my car." Erica frowned, looking at the wall as the picture frame began to bounce along the wall.
"There were a bunch of guys moving boxes that night. I don't know exactly who lives next door, but he's very active." I sighed, drinking my juice.
"Good lord, this happens daily?!" She looked at me as if I had five heads, once I nodded, she shoved the covers off her body.
"Where are you going?" I asked, confused.
She placed on her slippers and grabbing a cardigan before swinging open the bedroom door, she turned back around with a determined look. "I'm going to go tell him to keep it the hell down." She turned back, walking down the hallway.
