*a/n: I made a bts dating doors do any of you want me to post it?*
A soft beep awakens me from my slumber and I slowly open my eyes; letting them adjust to the light pouring through the window.
I look around and realize that I'm in a large white room. I'm in a hospital. I glance to my left to find a needle inserted in my wrist. Upon noticing this my arm starts to sting. My forearm is tightly bandaged along with my right leg.
For a moment I forget the horrible accident but then it all comes rushing but to me. The lifeless faces of my friends are ingrained in my memory and I clutch my head and sob uncontrollibly.
A few minutes later, my door opens to reveal a tall but gentle-looking doctor. He pauses in the doorway and lets a nurse through before walking in.
"Hello y/n, my name is Dr. Lahey. I'm glad you're awake."
I wipe my eyes while the nurse bussles about, changing my I.V. bag among other things.
"Can you tell me the last thing you remember?" He askes softly.
My eyes begin to water and I shake my head. I don't want to remember.
"That's alright, we'll come back to that." He continues. "Are you in any physical pain?"
"N-no." I answer, playing with my sheets.
"That's good. How are you feeling?"
"Terrible." I reply.
"Ah yes, that's to be expected. Um I'll be back in an hour or so, in the mean time, rest up."
He checks off something on his clipboard and leaves. Pressumably to some other patient who needs him more.
"Oh dear, I'm so sorry." The nurse says apologetically. I had forgotten she was here. "If you need anything just give me a call!"
I need my friends.
She gives me a sympathic smile before bounding after Dr. Lahey.
I sit in silence, pondering whether I should sit here and let my regret consume me or take a much needed walk. I decide to do the latter and gingerly set my feet onto the cool floor.
Before leaving my room I make a trip to the bathroom and when I pass the mirror I gasp in surprise. My eyes are sunken and gloomy while my cheeks are hollow. I look like a ghost. I have a small bandage on the side of my head, and my hand instinctly reaches up to touch it. I wince in pain and grip the sink until my knuckles turn white.
After freshening up I wonder how long I've been here. I take a look at the whiteboard next to my bed and if the date is correct, I've been asleep for 4 days.
Four days have past since... since the accident.
I shuffle out the door, pulling my I.V. along with me. Nurses push past me and rush into a room close by.
I peek in to see four nurses surronding a patient, who for a moment looks like Bambam. But after I rub my eyes it turns out to be a young boy, around twelve. My heart aches for his family.
"He's coding!" One calls and pulls the curtain around the boy, blocking my view.
I quickly walk away and don't stop until I can't hear them anymore. I lean against a wall to catch my breath and take in my surrondings. The room at the end of the hall is open and a young man is talking to who is probably my doctor. He looks like Jinyoung, I close my eyes and shake my head. When I open my eyes, he's still there.
I limp foreword until I reach the door and grip the doorframe tightly.
"...other than that you're in perfect health." Dr. Lahey finishes, marking something on his clipboard. "I'll be back later today, get some rest!"
Jinyoung nods and his eyes move to me. "Y/n?" He says in surprise.
I smile, tears sliding down my cheeks. "It really is you."
I stumble towards Jinyoung and hug him tightly. "I thought you were dead." I sob.
"I thought the same of you." He replies burying his head in my shoulder.
"You should be resting young lady." Dr. Lahey says softly, with a hint of annoyance. "Can't have you passing out in the hallway."
I turn to him with new found courage and hope. "Did anyone else make it?"
He looks down at his chart. "We have a Kim Yugyeom in ICU. I should warn you, we're not sure he's going to make it."
I close my eyes and purse my lips. "Thank you." I whisper, leaning into Jinyoung's side.
"I'll send a nurse to fetch you in a couple of minutes." Dr. Lahey says sternly before walking out the door.
"I have to see him." I tell Jinyoung hastily. "If... if it wasn't for him I might be dead right now."
"Maybe we'd be better off dead." He whispers.
"Maybe." I say slowly. "But I still need to see him."
"It doesn't matter anyway. They won't let you in."
"That's why I need your help."
"No." He says and I can see the pain in his eyes.
"Jinyoung.." I plead and grip his shoulder tightly.
He stares at me, and for a moment I think he'll refuse again but to my surprise he reluctently agrees.
We walk as fast as our legs will carry us to the elevators, dodging nurses and other personal.
When I reach Yugyeom's room I stop in my tracks. Unlike my room, a large window occupies most of the wall and inables me to see him without stepping into his room. He has countless machines surrunding him all displaying different data and wires sticking out of him every which way.
I gasp and clutch Jinyoung's wrist. "He looks horrible."
"This is why I didn't want to see him. I don't want to remember him this way." He whispers.
"I'm sorry." I reply, unsure of who I'm apologizing to.
I make my way to the door and slowly turn the knob. I'm greeted by the beeping machines and the respirator allowing Yugyeom to breathe. I know my time is limited so I quickly make my way over to Yugyeom's pale form and take his hand in mine.
"H-hey." I sniffle. "Its me, y/n. I'm ok and Jinyoung is too. I wanted to thank you, for everything."
I grip his hand tightly and struggle not to cry. "I should be there, not you. I j-just- it isn't fair!" I shout and wipe my eyes. "I love you and its ok, its ok if you can't hold on. I understand."
I feel his finger twitch in my hand and I scan his face for any changes but I come up empty handed. All of a sudden the door bursts open and three nurses barrel in with Jinyoung in tow. He mouthes I'm sorry and I nod in reply.
The nurses pry my hand away from Yugyeom's and I scream in protest. "No! Let me stay! Please, please!" I shout but they ignore my pleads.
I feel something cool seep into my arm and I realize they have given me a shot; my eyes start to droop and my legs become limp. The nurses drag me out but not before I get one last look at Yugyeom. The machines around him simultainestly turn red and the beeping becomes unbearable. "We need a crash cart in here!" One of them shout but they won't save him. Nobody can save any of us.
The last thought that runs through my head is the comment Jinyoung made earlier, maybe we'd be better off dead. And maybe, he's right.
