Lynn's POV

"Trust me," Charles simply insisted and he refused to let me pursue the subject any further as he wheeled himself out of the study.

Although his words cleared none of my queries, I ultimately conceded and followed him, having my hand on his shoulder as we went through the hallways. As he turned the corner, we met with Raven who was coincidentally on the other end of the corridor.

"Lynn, catch!" Raven yelled and hurled a plastic bag of items in my direction.

"Not bad," she commended when it landed nicely in my palm that I swiftly raised above my head to snag the transparent sack.

"What's this?" I investigated as I scrutinized the contents that were not quite decipherable judging from the outside of the sealed packaging apart from being some kind of polka dotted fabric dyed in coral.

"Would you mind if I borrowed your wife for a bit?" Raven consulted Charles as she ignored my question.

"Do I actually have a choice?" Charles challenged humorously and Raven pretended to think for awhile as she skipped towards us.

"Not really," Raven replied pompously and they both chortled while I remained standing beside Charles, baffled again.

"C'mon, let's go to the pool!" Raven instigated enthusiastically and attempted to drag me away from Charles before I could process any of this.

"Raven, stop, please," I ordered as I flicked off her grip from my arm.

"I'm sorry," I mumbled, looking at her apologetically as I rubbed Charles' back, and they both sensed my dilemma.

"I'll be fine, love," Charles comforted as he took my hand from his back into his palms.

"He can watch us from the balcony," Raven suggested kindly to ease my mood and Charles nodded in agreement but this morning's experience surely roused a significant level of uncertainty that deterred me from unnecessarily leaving his side.

"I'll take care of him," Erik voiced and his footsteps gradually treaded more distinctly as he appeared from around the bend.

"I like the sound of that," Charles concurred as his eyes lit up with the sight of the box in Erik's hand.

"Are you sure you'll be alright?" I fretted as I kneeled down beside Charles and looked sheepishly towards Erik.

"Don't worry about me. Just go with her and enjoy yourself, alright?" He endorsed graciously and cradled my skull, leaning over to peck my forehead.

"Smile, please," he appealed as he caressed my cheek and I obeyed, letting out a brief chuckle.

"No time to waste then!" Raven exclaimed but I had my gaze fixed on Charles as she energetically lugged me away.

Have fun, Charles urged and cordially waved me off.

Grabbing some sunscreen, a couple of shades as well as a bottle of alcohol, we picked up two glasses and rapidly changed into the identical bikini sets she threw at me earlier. Scampering down the exterior stairs with all our goodies, we settled into the brightly-coloured beach chairs by the side of the clear fresh waters and happily slapped the cool white lotion onto each other.

You look absolutely stunning, my love, Charles complimented and I gazed up towards the mezzanine, finding him and Erik seated by the railings, about to embark on their game that was set on the rounded vintage table between them.
