Lynn's POV

Kurt put his arms around me, transporting me away from the debris and the next moment, I was inside the cabin of our jet.

"I'll be right back," Kurt stated.

Before I could react, he disappeared and I noticed Charles lying motionlessly on the floor behind Kurt's trail of blue smoke. I crumbled to his side, quickly leaning down to caress his face, so gratified to feel his warmth against my palm I could not care less that he looked different.

"Charles," I whispered as I slowly pressed my lips onto his.

Although he did not respond, I was relieved to feel his breath continuously brushing upon my face. Finding his vitals still present, I hurriedly hoisted his body onto my lap and rested his bald head against my abs. I removed Raven's handkerchief that had bandaged my hand and utilized a clean spot to gently wipe the freshly bleeding bruise on the side of Charles' left eye.

"Lynn! Professor!" Jean gasped when Kurt brought her back to the aircraft.

"Your hair..." She breathed as she kneeled down beside me, presumably scrutinizing my bleached fringe.

"I'm fine," I replied without looking at her as I meticulously attended to Charles' wound.

"Is he alright?" Jean croaked and I heard her sniffles.

I looked up at her moist and worried face that mirrored the true emotions in my heart but I mustered an optimistic smile to bolster her.

"He will be," I asserted and wiped away her tears.

Kurt soon returned with the others and while everyone resumed their positions for take off, Moira stood rooted to the ground as she stared in shock at our new appearances.

"Will you make yourself useful and get us out of here?!" I hissed as I shot her yet another ferocious glare.

My obvious hostility made Moira scrambled into her seat in the cockpit where Hank had already readied the plane and we were soon in the air. Suddenly, the jet shook but it did not feel like any ordinary turbulence but rather like someone had jumped on it and I instinctively wrapped my arms tightly around Charles, sensing danger nearby.

"What the hell was that?" Moira exclaimed.

As Hank focused on piloting us to safety, the rest of us looked upwards to the source of tremor and a bright purple blade abruptly sliced through the ceiling of our cabin, slashing its way around the metal above us.

"Kurt!" I shouted and he teleported to me.

"Everyone grab hold of Nightcrawler!" I ordered as I gripped his arm and the rest followed my instructions.

"I've never done this with so many people," Kurt refused with a tone full of uncertainty.

"Kurt, I need you to believe in yourself," I appealed as I looked sincerely into his eyes.

"I need you to do this for me. I need you to do this for him," I reiterated as I gazed somberly towards Charles' comatose frame in my embrace.

"Get us out of here," I begged as I returned my eyes to Kurt and gave him an encouraging nod.

Holding onto Charles, Kurt shut his eyes and concentrated his powers. Brief bursts of blue smoke appeared around him but all of us remained in the aircraft as Psylocke created a hole in the roof of our plane.
