Lynn's POV
"What is Weapon X?" Moira probed ignorantly.
Before I could divulge any of Logan's past with Stryker, there was an increased commotion in the control room. All of us gasped when the military personnel started to shoot and while we could not see who or what their target was, it came rather obvious to me that it had to be Logan. Blood was splattered onto the glass panes and the noise gradually died down as Logan presumably clawed his way out of the area, slaughtering everyone in his path.
I signaled for Hank to put me down as an eerie silence engulfed our cell and the room above us that was possibly strewn with corpses.
"You're sure that's Logan?" Hank asked doubtfully and fearfully, not recognizing the ferocious creature who probably wiped out the entire base in the span of a few minutes.
"Stryker took away his memories and turned him into an animal. He's not the man we knew. Not yet," I revealed in a depressing tone when a shadow appeared in the window.
Raven and I stared at each other in utter shock when we registered the face of the silhouette figure.
"Kurt?" Hank breathed in surprise.
Surely, Stryker was not interested in any of the children and it baffled us that of all mutants, Kurt would be the one who came to our rescue.
We saw Kurt move his lips but without switching on the speakers, his speech remained inaudible to us in our captive chamber as he waved his arms frantically in the air.
"What?" Raven muttered as she gestured to her ear but Kurt did not get the hint that we could not hear a single thing he was trying to tell us.
Kurt continued to move his arms furiously around but all of us frowned as we failed to understand whatever instructions he was attempting to give. Finally, Raven pointed towards the button to activate the speakers and Kurt pressed it, albeit not fully, granting only intermittent sounds to travel into our cell.
"Get... Door..." We heard Kurt say as he motioned his arms in the direction away from the entrance.
His words still did not mean anything significant to us as we all struggled to comprehend his intentions but Raven eventually did.
"Get away from the door!" Raven ordered once she comprehended Kurt's demand.
Hank quickly scooped me up from the floor and placed me down to the side of the room while the rest gathered around as they backed away from the doorway.
"On three. One, two-" Kurt counted with his fingers but forgot he did not quite have enough.
It was slightly comical amidst the tension but the humour was short lived for the next moment, there was a loud explosion and I held up my arm in defense to shield us in a telekinetic field, allowing the debris to settle safely around us. Beyond the dust and smoke emerged Jean together with Scott who had just replaced his glasses back onto his face as he must have used his optic beams to blast the door open.
"Lynn!" Jean blurted as she ran in and gave me a hug.
While the fact that she was well did serve to soothe me somewhat, I did not fancy the idea of having the children out and about in such danger.
"Jean, I told you to stay out of trouble! What are you kids doing out here?!" I chastised as I pulled away from her.
"I couldn't just watch Stryker take you, could I?" Jean retorted, though with an apologetic and somber expression.
"You-" I stuttered, then sighed in frustration, unable to find anything to counter her argument.
"We know where the Professor is," Jean informed as she looked eagerly into my eyes while I returned her a puzzled expression.
