Lynn's POV

Bursting the front doors opened with a strong telekinetic pulse as I heard Raven's cab enter the mansion premises, I wheeled myself out to porch and watched anxiously as her taxi wounded up the gravel road.

"Raven!" I blurted in excitement as she alighted the vehicle.

"Lynn!" She exclaimed, bending down to give me a warm hug.

"It's good to see you, Raven," Charles greeted, interrupting our hug as Raven pulled away prematurely to look in his direction.

"Charles?" Raven murmured, looking aghast when she saw him appear in his wheelchair.

"There's a lot you need to catch up on around here," I eased as Raven turned around to me, looking for answers.

"C'mon, let's go to your room. I'll help you with that," I volunteered and took over her bags with my powers as I rolled myself into the house.

"You kept it?" She assumed, as we made our way there.

"Charles did," I corrected and she was shocked.

"I thought about giving it away, so that I could better forget. I was prepared to share mine if you ever came back but Charles insisted you had you own. He never let anyone in here," I stated as we came to her door.

She opened it cautiously, slowly taking in the familiar surroundings and a smile gradually formed on her face as we entered her bedroom that had been maintained in its original state. Placing down her bags beside the bed, I dragged out the chair that was tucked away at her vanity.

"What the-" She muttered, with her startled eyes fixed on the chair moving on its own, but suddenly stopped when she realised it was me.

"How the hell are you doing that?!" She interrogated, turning her gaze back to me.

"Sit down. I'll explain everything," I calmed and guided her into her seat which I had placed directly in front of me.

After I narrated what Charles and I had been through since Cuba until DC, she stared at me in disbelief at the amount of new information she had to process.

"Why didn't you tell me?" She asked in concern about my depression and close-to-suicide attempt. "I would have came back," she claimed sincerely.

"I know you would. But you left us for a reason, Raven. I didn't want to take that away from you," I justified with a sigh. "It's not that I don't want your help. I just wanted you to have the freedom you deserved," I clarified.

"You have not changed one bit, Lynn. Always putting others before yourself. It will be the death of you," she chastised disapprovingly.

I ran my fingers through my hair mindlessly, laughing off her dramatic statement though finding some truth in it.

"Is that your engagement ring?" Raven asked as she removed my hand from my locks.

"It's lovely," she commented as she examined the band on my ring finger.

"Charles picked it himself," I bragged.

"He has outstanding taste, doesn't he?" She smirked.

I smiled but remained silent, unable to formulate any response that would not sound self-praising.

"So... Tell me about the proposal," she prompted eagerly as she leaned forward towards me.
