Lynn's POV
Moira takes us on a ship to intercept Shaw in Miami.
On the way, she educates us further about this man, something she had surprisingly failed to do previously when we followed her back to CIA. Prior to this trip, she merely mentioned that she believed him to be a mutant.
She now informed us that he was formerly known as Dr. Klaus Schmidt, a Nazi scientist in one of the German concentration camps in Poland back in the war. Claiming that she witnessed Shaw threatening U.S. Army Colonel Henry, seemingly in that night club we saw in her head, she hypothesized that this resulted in the colonel advocating a nuclear missile deployment in Turkey, convincing us that Shaw was a major threat to the world and had to be stopped.
As we got nearer to the targeted location, Moira and the MiB took us up to the deck.
"You're telepathic, right? Both of you. So you can help us to locate Shaw on that ship?" Moira asked Charles and I, pointing towards a vessel in the distance, as we looked out onto the open waters.
Before I could answer, Charles did for me.
"No! She's not strong enough," he insisted. His apparent lack of faith in me was simply displeasing and I rolled my eyes in frustration. "I'll do it," Charles volunteered as he puts his arm in front of me and shoving me behind him, the scene almost reminiscent to what happened on stage at 'The Eagle'.
"Charles! I-" I grabbed his arm and protested, yearning to be of help onboard, but he cuts me off when I barely finished my sentence.
"That's final," he said firmly with a glare. I don't want you hurt. Please, just listen to me. His gaze turns softer as he pleads with his mind before placing two fingers on his temple to find Shaw.
Unsatisfied and persistent, I attempted to listen to what was happening on the opposing vessel but there was nothing.
"I've lost Shaw," Charles said in surprise at the exact same time. "There's something blocking me. This has never happened to me before. I think there's someone like me on that ship," he guessed and I saw his face caught in a frown, trying his best to understand what just happened.
"Like you?" Moira questioned in confusion.
"A telepath," Charles explained. "This is incredible. I can actually feel her inside my mind. I'm very sorry but I don't think I'm going to be much help to you tonight. You're on your own," he apologized to Moira and MiB and ends his search.
This is when we saw a mutant on Shaw's vessel blasting what looked like tornadoes from his hands, overturning several of the coast guard's small boats that were on their way to attack Shaw.
"Lynn! Raven! Get inside!" Charles yelled as he turned towards us.
He grabs me by my waist and Raven followed behind us as the MiB led us indoors. As we walked down a flight of stairs, I heard a struggling mutant in the water.
He was the one Erik Lehnsherr.
His mind was loud, frenzied and filled with anger. His vicious thoughts that revolved solely around seeking revenge against his hated Klaus Schmidt resonated vehemently like a horrible noise. My head started to hurt as I was overwhelmed and it made me dizzy. Instinctively, I wrapped my arm around Charles to steady myself as I halted in my tracks.
"Charles," I gasped in extreme discomfort and looked up at him agonizingly.
He nodded to me, acknowledging that he had also heard Erik's voice. Charles caressed my face and gently stroked my cheek to comfort me.
