193. From the Roof-tops: Imagine you could stand on a rooftop and broadcast a message to everyone below - what would you say?

I love you.

I wish I could tell people that enough. If we want to combat the hate, we must do so with love. So I love you. I love you no matter what you are or who you are. I love you even if you hate me. I will still love you.

I believe love is a choice. Yes, it's emotion, but I know that ultimately, I am in charge of myself. I believe true love -- enduring love -- isn't just reliant upon feelings, which can change as easily as the weather. I believe love is sacrificing yourself for someone else. I don't mean your life, though that is a way to sacrifice -- I mean your time, your desires, your own wants. For me, love is giving up what I have for you.

I love you. I love you enough to stay up all night to talk to you after you've broken up with your boyfriend. I love you to tell you continually you're beautiful even when you refuse to believe it. I love you enough to always temper my criticism with advice. I love you so much that I would do everything I can to make you feel wanted. (Because isn't that what we all want?)

Maybe that seems ridiculous. Maybe it seems impossible. But it's not. I love you. I love you for your soul, even if it's beaten down. I love you for what you were, are, and will become. I love you because I believe in your goodness, no matter how deeply it is buried. I love you because I am loved.

It doesn't matter if you don't love me back or even like me. It doesn't matter because my love is not dependant on who you are, but on who I am.

Can you love a stranger? Can you love someone you never met? Yes. Love doesn't mean approval. It means sacrifice.

So if you need anything, then I will tell everyone I can: I love you.
