47. Light Switch: Write about coming out of the dark and seeing the light.

Said the Darkness to me:

"Come meet me, my dear,

And lay in my arms

Close your eyes and hear

My sweet whispers in your ear."

Said I to the Darkness:

"No, thank you, kind sir,

For I do not quite believe

That your honeyed words

Drip with nothing but cold fear.

If you please, if I may,

I shall leave you today."

Did the Darkness to me:

Held me tight in his vice,

Till I cried and called out,

But none answered my cries,

And I gradually realized

Their affection was naught but lies.

Did I to the Darkness:

Why I welcomed him home,

Gave him food and lodge

Claimed him as my very own,

Until I was utterly, utterly,

Beyond all doubt, alone.

Thus we walked hand in hand,

Deep footprints carved in sand,

Going together as birds of a feather,

Into the screaming Nether,

For we children don't know better.

*

Said the Light to me,

"Child, come into my house.

You are cold and weary,

Chilled to the bone,

With a soul withered old.

I shall heal your pain

I shall make you sane."

Said I to the Light:

"No, I do not need you today.

Yesterday I was broken,

Lost and stolen,

And yet you stayed away,

So I in my tears shall fade."

Did the Light to me:

Whisper and caress

My saddened soul

Making hurt less.

Softly, so softly,

Gently and with love,

They ever so carefully,

Lifted me above.

Did I to the Light:

Threw daggers in hate;

Shall I show you my scars?

For I know my own fate.

I was not destined to go far;

But yet, yet I did.

Light took me in.

Light cleansed my soul,

Light removed my sin.
