Kay, so I read all eight of the Maximum Ride books in about a week. They're good, really funny, with romance and action and stuff, but sometimes it pissed me off a bit. James Patterson kept hinting at plot developments, but then he would never mention them again after the book they appeared in. But it's a good series if you're looking for something fluffy. It doesn't make you think (in fact, don't think too much about it) and it gives you a warm feeling inside. It's kind of a scifi type of thing. It follows Maximum Ride and her Flock of five other mutant bird kids (kids with wings). And just to clarify, because several people have been confused, Maximum "Max" Ride IS in fact a girl. Keep that in mind.
Anywho. Six kids with wings running from the evil scientists who created them. Max is the oldest of the flock at 14. She's sarcastic and witty and tough. Fang is the second-oldest, also 14. He's dark and doesn't talk much. Iggy, 14 as well, is next, one of my favorites. He and the Gasman "Gazzy" have an epic bromance and bond well over bombs and fire. Iggy is blind. Nudge, 11, is very talkative and fashionable. The Gasman is 9 and has a "special talent" due to a faulty digestive system. His nickname is quite accurate. Finally, we have Angel, who is 6, and absolutely adorable and creepy. She and Gazzy are the only blood siblings - everyone else was taken at birth from their parents.
So, yeah. A good series, one I've read a couple times. I recommend it.
