Your POV
You'd gotten into a bad accident two years prior to meeting David. The accident put you in a wheelchair and you had been struggling ever since to regain the ability to walk on your feet. As of now you were positioned in the backyard to David's house looking out over the city as everyone else ran around and enjoyed themselves.
"Hey Y/N" David greeted
You turned to look at him briefly and smiled momentarily before looking back to the view. His hands rested upon your shoulders as he gently squeezed them. You smiled up at him and sighed in content.
"Everyone is having fun" You told him
"Yeah they are" He nodded "Are you having fun?"
"Yeah, I just wish I could have that much fun again" You sadly said
David said nothing but he bent down and held your hands, his eyes looking over your features as you sat there. He leaned closer to you and kissed you softly.
"I love you" He mumbled "I would do anything to give you back what you've lost"
"You're the love of my life David" You mumble "go hang out with everyone I'll be here"
He nods slowly and reluctantly stands once again as he makes his way over to the others, he kept glancing back just to make sure you were fine. You smiled encouragingly and then looked back to the sky, David now distracted by his friends.
"Ready?" Corinna asked as she wheeled you closer to the group
"Yeah I'm so ready" You giggle
You watch as Josh takes David's camera and begins to record David. You hear your lover ask what's going on making the nerves in you grow as he turns to see you. You look to Corinna who nods encouragingly as you look to David and smile weakly.
"You got it" Corinna mumbles as you push yourself up
"What are you" David looks astonished as you stand to your feet and begin to walk towards him "You're walking!"
Tears fall from his eyes as you walk up to him, he wraps his arms around you tightly as he sobs into your neck. You chuckle softly holding him close as your own tears fall.
"You're walking!" David laughs holding you at arm distance
"I've been able to for a few months I just wanted to perfect it so that I could surprise you" You say holding his hand that was on your cheek "David, you have done nothing but support me and help me through my difficult times before I met you, I was lost. But with your help I was able to find myself and I found the courage to build my strength back up so I could walk again"
"I'm so proud of you, for everything you've done and everything you've overcome" David smiled "I love you"
"I love you more" You grin
"Well now that you can walk again, maybe now you can run away from David" Jason jokes making everyone chuckle
"Y/N isn't gonna run away from me like your ex-wife did when she got a lawyer to divorce you" David playfully glared
"Hey! That's not" Jason began "Okay you got me"
