Our chores for the day were complete. We had encountered a Shop Keeper at the Pokémon Mart and resupplied our items for the journey back out toward Route six. Our plan after the Pokémon Fan Club was to hit up the Gym. Though we have been hearing rumors that the Gym Leader is currently away on a business trip.
Not sure exactly what would warrant the Lieutenant to not be in his quarters? They say he had been gone ever since the incident of the S. S. Anne crashing at the beach.
He was known as Lieutenant Surge, or the Lightning American. His specialty would have been electric type Pokémon if we had encountered him. But surprisingly he also served during the Great Pokémon War. I'm not sure if he would have a connection to my Father? Since he served his platoon during the Fuschia Raid. Little is known about him and to the locals. It seems as if he doesn't like to talk about his exploits during those times.
Who wouldn't during that terrible tribulation?
There were plans to take on the Gym but if there was no way of being able to face him here in Vermillion City. Then our best course of action would be to encounter him when he travelled along the same Routes we were.
Luckily, we weren't too far from the Pokémon Fan Club where the Chairman lives and as I examined our geological location on the Town Map. The Chairman was just only a block away from where the Pokémon Mart was located. Less than half a mile due West.
"Well, now that we restored our Pokémon and resupplied for the trip. Should we walk to the Chairman first?" I asked.
"I think we are all set for the trip. This will be longer due to the distance we'll be covering to get to Lavender Town." Assured Blue as he pointed to the Route North East on the Town Map.
"Did we put any Pokémon we caught in the PC?" Asked Yellow.
"......." Nodded Red.
"We were able to drop off a few of our catches into the drop box." Said Blue.
Red pulled out his Pokédex to examine the data that was uploaded from his previous catch. We all got closer to examine the device firmly within his grasp. He clicked on a directional pad to show us some of the catches that he was able to complete and as he scrolled to his Diglett. I was quite astonished at the results.
"Thirty-three total caught Pokémon?!" I exclaimed with a loud shriek.
How in the world does he do it? How does he always stay one step ahead of me? I thought with a confused look.
"How in the world were you able to get that many?"
"........ Evolution's remember? I had a recent evolution in the Charmander line and now I caught a brand new Pokémon, Diglett." Answered Red with matter of fact.
"Hmph!" Smirked Blue with a fold. He also, was astounded by the results that he hatched up an important, brilliant plan.
"If you caught that much, you'll need to meet with Professor Oak's Assistant so that you can get the new HM from him."
"How would I be able to get to Route two?" Asked Red.
"Easy, we had just recently passed by Diglett's Cave in order to get to where we are now. Red, if you follow that cave trail. We might be able to get the item we need in order to maneuver Rock Tunnel before Route nine." Said Blue as he pointed along my map for his direction to follow.
"Route nine?"
The boy turned toward me with a wide smile. Stretching his limbs behind his head. While we strolled across the concrete sidewalk path towards the building over by the shore.
