- Maya's first name has many meanings, but her name was meant hold the meaning "Illusion." Maya's mother had a love for fantasy and magic, so she decided to give her daughter a name that held a meaning as such. Maya's last name, Zaman, is of Arabic origin. It means "light of the era."

- Maya was originally supposed to be a character named Volt Sparks, a different version of my Lab Rats: Elite Force character. Then I decided to change her character completely.

- Maya's character, personality, spirituality, family life, and social life, are all based off my own.

- Maya owns a pair of red fingerless gloves that help her control her powers. They originally belonged to her aunt on her mother's side, Wanda Maximoff (The Scarlet Witch). In roleplay, Maya received these gloves from a character named Pheobe Frost, who is played by Gaby (gabymoyetonez). The way she receives them in my story must only be found out by reading it.

- Before I changed her to Maya, Volt was going to be portrayed by Kelli Berglund. When I realized that Kelli Berglund was too old to play the love interest of Andy Strucker's actor, I changed her to Rowan Blanchard for a brief amount of time. Then I changed her to Maddie Ziegler, then to Paris Berelc, and then back to Rowan Blanchard. She stayed that way ever since.

- Maya was not supposed to be related to any X-Men characters, but I wanted to her to have a stronger connection to the plotline of the show and make her backstory more interesting, so I researched X-Men characters with reality warping abilities and decided to make her a descendant of the Maximoff family, the niece of the Scarlet Witch, who has reality warping and chaos magic abilities.

- Maya is a Muslim. She is very dedicated to her religion.

- Maya is of Arabic, American, and Sokovian descent. Sokovia is a fictional country and the Russian language is used to portray it.

- Dating is typically frowned upon in Islam, but I wanted Maya to have a love life, so I kind of glossed over that fact. However, in Maya's story, she starts to realize that dating Andy was a mistake based on her parents' morals. My goal is for them to end up together in the long run.

- It took me forever to come up with Maya's power, which was originally just the power to create illusions. A few days after I came up with her power, a character by the name of Wes showed up on The Gifted with the same power. This frustrated me, but I decided to make the best out of the situation. I made Maya cousin to Wes on her mother's side and added chaos magic to her abilities.

- Maya has abilities like her aunt, and her younger brother, Wyatt, has supersonic speed like his uncle, Pietro Maximoff also know as Quicksilver. Wyatt is now able to help his sister in ways that neither of them thought he could. Maya and Wyatt are the next generation of the Maximoff Twins.

- I disagree with the way that the Underground and the Hellfire Club handled things in the season one finale, so I had Maya take neither path. She chose her own path to find a medium between the two sides and created a group called The Amity Aggregation.
