"We'll wait a little longer since you should be graduating after this semester. Is that okay with you," Mr. Qui asked still across from Scarlett. He was to go back to California after a meeting that he was going to sit in for her.

"I don't have a problem with that at all," she shrugged her shoulders, closing her laptop. She glanced over to Yanjun who was sitting on the couch on his phone. His eyes flickered up to her, feeling her watching him and he sent her a smile.

She smiled back before looking to Yihui who was messing with some papers. "I need you to sign these for me."

"What are they," she asked as he handed over the papers to her. She wished Amanda was the one here and not him, but she had gone back home.

"Minor papers that approve of the building-"

"Okay," she nodded, not really wanting him to ramble on about the building being done. He had already talked to her about it the past couple days via video chat.

"By the way, they're painting the staircase so you'll need to take the elevator," Mr. Qui reminded her. She thought it was dumb that they needed to repaint the lines, but they were already doing it so there was no point in stopping them.

It was okay though. Yanjun was with her and she had been okay with the small space now.

"Alright. Thank you, Yihui," Scarlett smiled, grabbing her bag before making her way to Yanjun who got up from the leather couch.

"Of course, Ms. Huang."

Yanjun smiled down at her before nodding to Yihui and taking her hand in his. The two of them walked out of the room, some of the people who passed them bowed and they returned it. The walked down the narrow hall to the elevators and Yanjun was the one to press the button.

"You tired," he asked when she rested her head against his bicep. She slowly nodded, her eyes falling shut. She felt him press a kiss to her head before she heard the elevator ding, announcing its arrival to pick them up. She sighed as the two of them stepped inside the contraption.

"W-We should just take the stairs," Xiulan told Hunter, Alec, and Kailer as the two of them came to the elevator. The building was old and there were pieces of debris from the walls falling apart or someone ruining them.

"It's fine. The elevator works, we've been using it the past couple days," Kailer shrugged, walking past her and into the mechanical box. "Don't be a baby, Xiulan."

"Yeah, it works perfectly," Alec, Kailer's friend agreed. He had taken Benny's spot in the road trip since Benny's parents didn't want him tagging along since he had tryouts coming up.

"I-I think I'll take the st-"

"It's okay, Princess. No need to worry," Hunter assured her although he had just yelled at her. He had seen some guys looking at her and yelled at her for drawing attention.

Xiulan nodded, not wanting to argue. He grabbed her hand and pulled her along with them into the elevator. She held onto his hand, her breath shaky as the elevator strangely shook before they felt it move.

The building was only five floors high, but Xiulan still didn't like it at all. She wasn't scared of elevators, but she was scared of how old it was and how it seemed everything in the building was falling apart.

The elevator stopped abruptly and jutted down once, Xiulan squeezed onto Hunter's hand. She wished for him to hold hers tighter, but he didn't.

Alec reached over and pressed the button a couple of times, hoping it would work again, but it didn't.

"Fuck," Kailer hissed looking around.

"We'll just pop open the emergency exit," Alec shrugged, pointing up to the small tile on the roof.

"Give me a leg up," Kai asked Alec who nodded his head and helped him. He pushed open the way and lifted himself out. The elevator dipped and Xiulan's breath hitched.

"Help me out," Alec asked, nodding towards Hunter. He nodded his head and released Xiulan's hand before copying what he did with Kai.

"You next," Hunter said, looking to his girlfriend. Xiulan nodded her head, but they both heard the metal door close. "Kai! Al! What the fuck!"

"Xiulan was the one who jinxed us. She should be punished...we'll help you out though."

Hunter looked at Xiulan who was sure he wouldn't leave her. He loved her, he wouldn't let her suffer.

"Alright," he said after a moment and sent her a false sorry look. "Help me out, you dicks."

"Crimson, you okay," Yanjun asked Scarlett as the two of them walked towards the car. She hadn't realized they weren't in the elevator yet alone out of the building.

Her eyes slowly moved to Yanjun who had a worried look on his face. She faked a smile and held onto his hand tighter, moving closer to him.

"Of course."
