scarlett's pov

You know those moments in life when you feel like you're drowning? You're holding your breath, clawing you're way up, but it seems like you're not getting anywhere. You can't scream because you'll just let water in so you just hold your breath as long as you can until you just can't do it anymore. The water is surrounding you and look up at the only way out, but it's getting farther and farther away from you. You see the light fading and you see the darkness swallowing you whole.

I constantly have that feeling, but it comes and goes. When it comes, it all hits like a bullet to the heart and when it goes, I'm always anticipating it's comeback. I know that things won't last long, but when it's bad it always seems like it's never going to end. One day things are good then things are bad. There's no in between. It's one or the other. My pattern will never end and I'm scared of it, but I'm also scared of what will happen if it does end. I've become so used to bad things happening, but when they do, I know something good will come out of it whether it's good for me or for someone else.

But even if my life is like this, I think that I'm lucky. If it didn't happen I'm not sure what would've happened to Justin and I'm not sure if I would have met Yanjun and the others so in the end of it all, I can't possibly hate my life.

"Dude, what the hell. We thought you said you were going to break up with her not have sex with her," Ziyi said motioning to the preoccupied bathroom.

"I didn't have sex with her. She fell asleep and I didn't think it would be a good idea to let her drive home tired," Yanjun replied, running a hand through his hair.

He had planned on breaking up with Jieqiong last night, but she kept talking and then she wanted to watch and movie while they ate. She fell asleep during the movie and being the nice guy that Yanjun was, he let her sleep in his bed while he slept on the floor.

"Then why is she wearing your shirt and only your shirt," Linkai hissed, fixing himself a bowl of cereal.

"I have no idea, okay? I just woke up and bam she was wearing that."

"You're lucky j-"

"Jiejie," Justin froze when his sister entered the kitchen. She was dressed in a pair of adidas pants, a white t-shirt, and some black shoes. Her hair was tied into a high ponytail and her face was clear of makeup. Her eyes were dark and her skin was pale like it was winter. "Wh-What are you doing home? I thought you weren't coming home until a couple weeks."

Scarlett looked up from the hardwood floor, her eyes moving over everyone including Yanjun. When she looked at him last, her eyes darted away.

"I had an emergency meeting, but I'm going to be flying back right now actually," she replied, messing with the strap of her backpack. Yanjun watched as Scarlett licked her dry lips and moved past him towards the cupboard where they had the snacks. "I won't be back again until October or so...unless something comes up."

"That's another month," Zhangjing stated, stopping his feast. "What about school?"

"I dropped out," Scarlett quietly confessed as she shoved some granola bars into her bag. She closed the cupboard and everyone quietly watched as she went to the fridge and took a water bottle out. "I'm going to take advanced classes online so I'll be graduating faster."

"Why? You have-"

The bathroom door clicked open, cutting Xukun off. Jieqiong walked in, her eyes moving over everyone and stopping on Scarlett. Scarlett silently looked Jieqiong up and down and bit the inside of her cheek. She was wearing Scarlett's favorite shirt on Yanjun, one that she bought him when they went to his family's house.

"Scarlett," the name spilt from the other female's lips and suddenly the girl didn't like her own name.

"Jieqiong," Scarlett nodded before her eyes cast to the floor.

It's okay, she told herself.

"I should get going before I miss my flight," Scarlett looked up, all the boys frowning at her. "Tell the others I said hi."
