Third person's POV
As the chilling words "They...went missing" escaped Sarada's trembling lips, a heavy silence settled over the room like a shroud. The shock and disbelief were palpable, and you could feel your heart pounding in your chest as if it were about to burst.
Boruto's grip on Inojin's collar slackened, but the look in his eyes was one of anguish and desperation. Shikadai's gaze remained fixated on the floor, unable to meet anyone's eyes, while Chocho pressed a trembling hand to her mouth, tears glistening in her eyes.
The weight of the news sank in slowly, and you struggled to process the gravity of the situation. Your mind raced, searching for any reasonable explanation, but none came to mind. How could Himawari and the Uchihas have gone missing while you were all in the same house?
Fear, anger, and a sense of helplessness surged within you. You scrambled to your feet, your voice trembling as you demanded more information. "What do you mean, missing? How did this happen?"
Sarada's voice quivered as she tried to explain, "We were at the mall, and we decided to split up for a bit. Himawari went to a bookstore with Sasuke, and Itachi went to get some snacks. When we regrouped, they weren't there. We've been searching everywhere for them, but they're nowhere to be found."
Your heart sank further as the details became clearer. The Uchihas had vanished in the blink of an eye, leaving no trace behind. Panic threatened to overwhelm you, but you knew you needed to stay focused.
Boruto, his face a mix of anger and worry, turned to Shikadai. "Did you call the police?"
Shikadai nodded, his voice barely above a whisper. "Yeah, but they said they needed to wait a bit longer before they could consider them officially missing."
Chocho, her tears now flowing freely, added, "We've been searching for hours, (Y/N). We didn't know what else to do."
"They went... missing?" Processing the sentence, you find yourself repeating it, "They went missing..."
Boruto's emotions were a turbulent storm within him, and he grappled with a maelstrom of regret, guilt, and anger. His thoughts warred against his feelings, leaving him in a state of internal turmoil.
Regret gnawed at him as he questioned why he hadn't gone with them, why he hadn't protected them. He replayed scenarios in his mind where he could have prevented this nightmare.
"Why didn't I go with them? I could have protected them. Why did I let them go like this? If only I had gone with them, I could have stopped this from happening."
Fear gripped him, and his thoughts spiraled to the darkest possibilities. The vivid images of harm befalling his loved ones tormented him.
"What if they're getting killed? What if Himawari is going to get tortured or raped or even worse? It would be my fault for not coming with them. Oh god, what should I tell Mom about Himawari?"
Inojin, trying to offer some solace, laid a comforting hand on Boruto's shoulder. His voice trembled as he expressed his own sorrow, "I'm sorry, Boruto ...we don't know what happened to them. We called them and sent as many SMSs as we could, but we didn't get any answers from them."
You, on the other hand, curled into a ball, your hands covering your face as despair washed over you. The pain of losing someone again, the fear of the unknown, all overwhelmed you.
"But... no... not again ...I lost someone again..."
Your past losses, your mother, your father, your friends, all combined with this fresh agony of your brothers and your best friend disappearing. It was a fear you couldn't bear to face again.
