Your POVIt was already 9 PM, and we had spent our time playing with Tenten after tackling the hellish homework. Fortunately, we managed to finish our assignments, and Tenten was now sleeping peacefully. Everything had turned out better than I had expected.
Yet, there was still a part of me that harbored resentment towards Boruto for who he was and for what he had done. But our conversation had stirred sympathy for him. Speaking of which, why had he asked about my parents? Why had Saki's boyfriend offered comfort to me, and...
"Boruto! Himawari! What happened to the door?!" I heard Boruto's mom calling, sounding both desperate and frustrated.
WHY DID HE BREAK THE DOOR FOR ME!?
Oh, no, no, no! If Emo found out about this, I'd be in big trouble for sure!
I rushed upstairs, seeing the Uzumaki siblings with worried expressions on their faces, and I couldn't help but feel bad for them.
Their mother (I think her name is Hinata?) looked at them angrily and curiously, as if they had committed a grave crime. Well... Boruto did kill the door.
"I'm listening..." Hinata said, her tone laced with impatience. I quickly joined them, trying to come up with an excuse for the broken door.
"It... it was an accident!"
"An accident?" Hinata asked in disbelief as I nodded. Himawari and Boruto turned their heads to me, looking at me with surprise. It was an accident... in Boruto's head.
"Of course it was! I mean, we would never break a door! Who would break a door anyway?" I tried to convince her, waving my hand and acting all innocent (and by innocent, I mean Saki).
Hinata frowned. "And how did that happen?"
"Um... we were playing Tom and Jerry!" ...why?! Why am I saying this?!
The funny thing was, we had just watched Tom and Jerry with Tenten ten minutes ago. I could hear Himawari and that idiot giggling.
"You were playing Tom and Jerry? That's funny..."
"Yeah, I know! I mean, we all have to play something fun with little kids!"
Since when was I good at lying!?
"True, but..." She muttered, making me feel more confident!
"And it's my fault! I broke the door!"
"Your fault? "
... Himawari and Boruto were looking at me like I was an alien from another planet.
I forced myself to smile before replying. "Yeah... if you're angry at me, then you just have to know that I'm sorry... if you want, I can pay for the repair!"
I hoped she would at least forgive me for things I didn't do. Now I had to stick with the story.
As I waited for her response, I could feel my face getting wet from sweating. Why was this happening to me? Why didn't I just tell the truth and be done with it?
I looked at her, feeling a sense of despair. What I heard from her was... laughter? LAUGHTER?! Oh, Jesus Christ...
"You're such a cutie! Oh, and generous too!" Why?
"Oh... why thank you, Hinata!" I thanked her, putting my hand over my chest and letting out a relieved sigh. Well, this was becoming awkward. She turned her attention to the broken door and placed a hand on it, catching my attention.
"Well... it looks like the door should be repaired sooner rather than later... right, Naruto-kun?"
Naruto-kun? Her husband and the father of the siblings... What had happened to him? When had he died?! I was curious, but I couldn't ask them about it; it wasn't my business, and it might hurt their feelings.
